Look at how epic this pvp could be:

 http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/473/feature/6105/World-vs-World-A-Dream-Come-True.html/page/1

If they get this right it would be a dream come true, because it sounds so amazing.

I'm definitely getting GW2. It'll be interesting how it all will turn out.

Do you lose all your stuff when you die and get to loot your enemy?

If not it's shit pvp.

I don't see how that is relevant to the experience of PvP. Pvp doesn't need to be 'hardcore' to be incredibly fun.
Definitely looking forward to GW2.

AmPM doesn't understand the concept of that "fun" thing you speak of.

Yeah, it looks good, hopefully they'll continue the tradition of well-rounded PvP like in the first one.

It's very relevant, GW is like playing poker with cupcakes as bet, no one ever loses, it doesn't make for very interesting play. It completely alters the gameplay from a hardcore MMO where skill and teamwork actually matters to a themepark MMO where the only thing that matters is time invested.

Sharks are not monsters Henley, they are cute, cuddly and misunderstood. They love humans. sometimes they love TOO much. They love people so much that sometimes their kisses separate people into two flailing pieces which are consumed by other sharks in a frenzy of peace and joy.

^ You clearly don't have a clue about GW2 mechanics if you think time invested is going to be the sole factor at play. This isn't going to be like WoW where those who invest more time get better gear and thus have an edge. (There won't even be a huge skillcap like in your average MMO)

Yeah but the game still restricts PVP by keeping it in battlegrounds and by separating PVP and PVE gear.

He actually gets it. That is the exact reason the PvP will be dull as shit, because no matter what happens, it won't matter.

You clearly don't understand wow.

You grind for the best gear yes, but then EVERYONE has that gear. And if you don't have the PVP centric gear then you can't compete. So once you get to endgame PVP everyones geared equally and practically identically, leaving it to the skill of the player.

GW2 everyone will have the same high end gear.

Even if you're level 1 and decide to PvP you'll have all the skills and an Armour rating equivalent to lvl 80 so that your on par with everyone.

The only real difference will be aesthetic. Which in turn means the only real difference will be skill.

Guild wars 2 has arena style PvP and open World style PvP. both will be alot of fun, especially with how they are changing the combat mechanics. Everything is more fluid because you're not standing around waiting for cooldowns or casting. You can actively dodge skills which will be nice.

GW2 is probably going to have the best PvP when compared to any other MMO

Anyone played Warhammer Online?

I've played a few MMOs and it felt like that had the best pvp so far.

Dark Age of Camelot had the best pvp system. Only downside was there should have been more loss to the player.

If you think any such online PvP interaction "matters" then I think you need a bit of a reality check. If you think that spending hours upon hours grinding to get the best gear, only to risk it all in an attempt to prove that your ego is more massive than the other guy's is a worthwhile endeavor, well,  I suppose there will always be other games.

See, the part when people lose time due to loss means it matters. If I gank someone in EVE they have to buy all new stuff plus they lose the money. That all equals time. PVP is fun because of carebear tears.

EIR for instance is only fun to kill vet and get QQ.

Just because there is something at stake in a fight doesn't mean it has to be ALL your equipment. But when there is nothing at stake like WoW for example then that takes away a lot of the fun, kind of like if it wasn't possible to lose veterancy in EIR.
