Of recent I've suffered from this irrational fear of joining games and I don't feel that is from performance anxiety. I've no idea where this lack of self-confidence came from but I've come to ask if any of you have ever had this problem and if you did what was your solution.

It's called stop being a little bitch. It has nothing to do with a game or anything, if you're simply THAT afraid of failure, competitive (as in playing vs others, not esports) games are NOT for you.

Clearly you didn't understand what I was trying to convey. I'm not afraid to fail. I guess fear was too strong of a word. What happens is that I come up with excuses for myself to not play. (ie. I'll lag. I'll get something to eat first.)

If that's the case, that's more of wanting to like the game, but not.

I played EVE online for 3 years. Now, every 6 months (when they release an expansion) I'll resub, because i want to like it again so badly. I never keep it going past that month.

Its ok man, once you start playing in a couple games you'll realize how dumb you were to be afraid to like this game.  Once that happens you will enter a zen like state of bliss that will last roughly another 5-10 games.  After that you will realize the mistake you've made by trying to play more games in what I like to call an exercise in futility.  After you hit this milestone you will just want to uninstall, which is what the most likely outcome will be.

Have fun and go enjoy your next 10 games.
