Yeah... The remake by firaxis? Call me sceptical but...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPLTPj8SUhU

Nah, it looks pretty great to be honest, I like the visuals on the reaction/supressing fire shown and well, they sound like they know what changes they made and why.

I dont know man, call me a convert  Wink

i think this is how the new JA should of been.

Keep the turn based strategy, lose the 10 minutes it takes per move, but dont make it real time.
The new JA demo just blows in all directions. this looks good. and on console too.

Fire axis knows how to modernize a game without losing everything it stood for (sid meyers pirates and the evolution of Civ (even if i find 5 not as good as 4) are my best examples) and maintaining a good solid game.

Their change from TU to movement points sounds well reasoned and while i am a little skeptical they haven't served me wrong yet and from the video it still feels like X-COM

Firaxis is trustworthy, and I highly doubt this could be their one big failure. Apparently a lot of the team members who worked on this game had sunk massive hours into the original X-COM and intended for a "re-imaging, not a re-imagining".

If you enjoy old school RTS, you might like them.

Try the 'sequels' (I use that with a lose tounge....) Like Xcom Apocolypse.  Not turn based, but kind fun.

That's like offering Beer to fuck the fat chick. It will work for a while, but it's not gonna last. Not only that, but there is zero motivation for the Fat chick to loose weight.

To be fair, the old xcom games are really hard to get into these days, they are simply quite... outdated, they dont give off the same vibe anymore (tech progressing and all)

Only reason I could enjoy them to any extent (and even I found it troublesome) is because some of my first games ever were TA and Missionforce: Cyberstorm... before I knew english even  Wink

Oh, they better not forget to add an Ironman mode, only way to play IMO  Cheesy

There is a multiplayer version, XCom 2000 I think, let me look it up.

It was basically a mod.

Haven't tried this but heard good things

http://xenowar.net/

You may hear lionel going on about this, played the alpha and its not the game play or the graphics but some of the changes made to the core gameplay just made it bleh we will see how it goes

Xenonauts looks interesting, a bit low budget on the graphics though (Im a graphics whore).

Thus the new XCom will be a good look-in I believe.

I just wish wank-nut companies like Firanus would stop advertising shit 'Fall 2012' - Use a fucking Quarter you numb-nuts!

If they advertise fall 2012 its because they're not going to release it and expect the world to end then Wink
