I kinda like it! I mean E-penis, is E-penis, and still a great way to have your funz.

But now you're actually hurting the other guy's personal economy! You're causing dents in him, FOR REALZ!

Every marine squad killed is like 75 cents, and a cuckoo is 5$!

Reward points are going to be gone when warmap cards come in AFAIK, so this is certainly going to be a one time thing.

It may technically not even be legal

I thought you were EIRRs legal advisor? I know nothing about corporate law, aside from european competition law.
But I have a hunch we can't make money (not even if it is classified as 'non-profit') off 'granting access to content' that is not even owned by us :p

I think its bad we allow people to buy reward points. What about the people who cant afford it. What about them. This way you make EIRducation only accesable for the rich. We need to subsidise the poor people too from the main goods. So whoever donates will give 10% to this pot. So we can use this to keep everyone happy and not have EIR become only for the rich ufeelme.

Have think about this, too.
I think implementations for donations is better because these people who have the money to spend it for the mod push the mod forward and in the
end everybody profits from it.

Pay to win has never been a good thing, and a detriment to the gaming community. On the other hand, paying for cosmetics which is just as popular (if not more to some people) i would support a whole lot more, as it doesn't affect gameplay but makes people enjoy their shiny.

In the it could be seen that the people are just donating to get a personal advantage and just thinking about themself as their induviduals, instead of thinking in a bigger context and keeping the mod alive.

I don't want to say that the people which donated did it because they want to get a advantage (The RPs where just a attraction for it!) but in the end it maybe the wrong way.

Why are people calling this Pay 2 win?

People play like chicken's with their heads cut off when they get reward units. They either baby them and end up losing games they don't need to, or end up losing them in record time because they don't have a lot of experience using that particular unit.

Even better, when you kill someone's reward unit it rattles them and compromises them. This will be even more of an issue when they paid money for it.

I'm excited that other people are going to buy reward points by donating. 1) it's going to speed up warmap dev, and 2) it's going to make it easier to beat them.

Win-win. Christmas came early this year.

About time after the last onecoming really really really late :p.

It's definitely not pay2win mind you, reward units are not per se 'better' than any other unit in the game. They offer different gameplay and some of them are really strong, but that doesn't mean they won't be priced accordingly. But yea, one time thing guys, don't get worked up over it.

No worries I knew you weren't serious. I actually appreciated your satirical joke. I was more talking about Spartan Marine's post and the overall contention that "reward points" somehow offer a clear and alarming advantage.

Reward points aren't an issue as it currently stands. Most of the reward units are fun, can be effective and only change things up. It is however a trend in the gaming industry to go from 'pay for reward' to 'pay for advantage' in a short period of time to try to increase revenue.

My post was merely a warning, take it as you will but lots of things have fallen down this path not just big name companies.

I know its not what you plan, but it sure as hell has to be tempting to increase the money flow. on a long term.
