Out of any game EVER, which game did you play the longest?

Mine would have to be a tie between subspace, infantry, and warcraft 3.  All I played for around 6-7 years each.

I'm not sure. Infantry would be longest in the sense that I've first played it around 7 years ago and I still play sometimes. Only have a total of 1900 hours in game (33% of that AFK or chatting). That makes it the 2nd worse time waster. The first being DotA. My xFire profile claims that I've spent 2700+ hours on it, which may be an underestimate. That would make it the game I've played most. However, I've only started two years ago.
 
As for the full gamer life history. I don't remember almost any of the games I played when I was little. The first thing I can be confident about is playing Contra a bunch in school.
About 9 or 10 years ago I used to play a ton of Starcraft and Quake III / Half-Life on LANs. 7 Years ago I moved to Australia so had to move over to using the internet Thats when I started playing Infantry.

For a long time, during the day, while my Infantry buddies slept, I used to try one or three new SP games every week. I could make a long long list
At night we would play whatever free game we could find. At first there was Diablo II (admittedly not free, one of 8 games I bought in my life). First got my pally to level 87 or so and noticed how useless the class is. Then some Hardcore. After that there was Gunbound. I loved that game, until my account got hacked. That kind of thing takes away the fun. Then there was a bunch of korean MMOs like Helbreath or Risk your Life. Can't forget Guild Wars. Then finally got hooked on DotA

And ofcourse there was also the games we got invited to by FL-. In each one he would immediately create a clan, join a league and make us hate the game within a week. Examples of such games are Deathball and BF2

It's extremely true for me regarding the project side of that article.  I recently sent it to my wife and she said, 'do I ever become the project again?'

But yea, this is my longest running gig, and I'm glad I haven't let it die, just times of inactivity, which if I let happen with my other projects would probably net me a career in something I love doing instead...

Starcraft. is the #1 most. And WW2 Online I played for about the same amount of time. I quit for EIR. WW2 online is better.

EvE Online is my number one (4 years of play, probably about 36 months logged in, but not always active), number two most time consumed, EQ1.

Outside of those, CS 1.3-1.5 (CPL weee), original Team Fortress for Quake. Back when anyone with a broadband or network connection to the server was an LPB (Low Ping Bastard).

Bah, Meepo and Lesh, two heroes I can never get the timing right with.  Usually play random mode, just because my friends prefer it more than picking heroes, although given the chance I always love playing Furion, and on occasion Stealth Assassin.

you guys are all saying: iv been playing a game for years bla bla, i dont really stick with games that long since a new better game in the same genre usaly comes along, im very casual is my gaming, but i did play STALKER 32 hours straight when i first got it.

Longest time I ever spent on a game was Final Fantasy 7, I believe I had over 200 hours in a "relative" short amount of time. Second place on that would go to Oblivion .

As for all time longest on average:
1. Ultima Online (freeshards), I played it LOADS for at least 4 years.
2. Day of Defeat (Regular & Source), been playing it every now and then for at least 5 years
3. Counterstrike, spent at least 3 - 4 years playing CS.
