well, you feel/hear it,and in cqb it hurts quite a bit, specially if you get hit in the face! But it relies a lot on honesty of players. Thus it helps largely when you have good mature and honest group. And not bunch of commando idiots who think that they are the best and can't be hit,so they don't acknowledge hits or think that no one saw that they were hit,so they wont tell.
So,good group is one of prerequisites for good game.

paintball still sounds so much better.

cant you get more/accurate range on the paintballs anyways?

Yep, you can get more expensive mods to markers making them much more accurate then stock standard markers, add in realistic mods to make markers look like say, AK47s with lazer sights, get gas tubes to your waist so their not on your weapon, dress up into full military uniform and go ahead in play in a game where there is no need for honesty Wink

Im going to bite, Smurf, for all i know, those could be Paintball markers modded and military gear on. true story

And what is imature is that the very first thing you guys discuss is "Airsoft is better herpderp!" It is what 10 year old children do when a child pulls out his pokemon cards and a small group of children go up to him and start picking on him saying YuGiOh is better herp derp. I mean seriously, No interesting discussion comes from that. I am disappointed, it be the last time i try to share my real life interests to this community.

btw, the fat chick in the middle ruins the photo

Why do they dislike paintball? cant be about weapons or appearance cuz both airsoft and paintball can have military styled weapons/markers.

Oh, and there isnt airsoft in Australia, or there is a smal number of them but you need a firearms license like you need one for paintball markers. and so because there is no fields that run airsoft rentals in australia its not in australia

It can be. Because quite a bit of people who arm themself to be as close as possible possible to some forces(reenacting) out there, like to play with people like that. So if you spent loads of cash on all that gear(as high as + 2000-3000$),and like to play some good scenarios, guy with normal marker in jeans running around kinda breaks the picture Wink . I don't know how are paintball scenes out there, but here, most of the paintball players don't look that military nor have markers like real weapons, while on the other hand,a lot of airsoft players do. And when you organize scenarios,a lot of them have teams divided up in a way that you can quite clearly see who is who(like militia, east, west,PMC etc.).
To have airsoft gun that look like real weapon, you don't need to spent much, cuz they all do look. Dunno about marker prices, but I guess they are more expensive than standard alien thing markers which tbh. in my opinion look quite shitty.

I think i understand now.

If i want to roleplay and such, i would do airsoft, such as re-enacting Germans in WW2.

But if i really want a war experience, id play paintball.

Oh the question about the paintball players clothing in australia, The organisers in Australia give Rental camo overalls and all the other necessities to play paintball, 1 or 2 people may bring their .. speedball clothing.. i think its called speedball. anyways that be 1% of the players. Most of the 300 players will be in their own military gear, no shirts or jeans unless clothed in their teams speedball uniform.

But yeah, thats just how Paintball here is in Australia, so i guess im lucky. Its like Airsoft in.. the states or europe, but with the shooting of paint, which i like cuz you're know relying on honety which quiet frankly is not something i would rely on. If i was to roleplay, i wouldnt care, if i wanted to play a game then id play Australian paintball hehe

We dont have any censorship on our internet.. we have firearm laws so we dont have as much gang related shooting  or promote a redneck american culture Tongue

I used to play semi-pro a while back, But I played indoor speed-ball games hes 20x20 foot arenas haha. 5 man Teams + 2000 Paintballs in like 5 seconds. Back when Eclipse Ego's still ruled the field and DYE was just getting started. Epic Fun shit. I do miss it, but for how i played with so many paintballs per second it was just way to expensive.

Still don't see how paintball would offer you more war like experience than airsoft?
Not to mention that most paintball matches are played on small terrains. Mil-sim is what offers you real war experience, where you can play whole day,be out there in wind/snow/rain...and spent maybe few hundred bb-s,depending how much contact you made with enemy(because some terrains are rly large, you can flank, dunno where enemy is,sometimes not even where ally's are). Also, most of players use low/mid caps for their guns(which is around 60-120 bb) in mag,and you can't see how much you got left in mag.

Rental camo is still quite shitty compared to people when they come in full gear, looking like real deal Wink .

Then you dont know Australian paintball lol
Its 120 acres battlefield fought over from 10am to 9pm. Rental camo is better then shirt and jeans XD and paintballs, well, are paintballs, you know when someone gets hit, you cant fake it. so good

120 acres is around .5 square km? Because that's not that big tbh.

But still you don't say any reason why it would give you better war like experience than airsoft, except you cant fake it when you are hit. Although I did hear that guys play,if ball doesnt blow on you,so you have paint, people just continue playing :/
Yea,as I told, airsoft is a lot about truth. But we had zero problems when there are good teams, and people know each other. And people like that, like to play with each other, and if somebody doesn't say that he's been hit, teams make sanctions on players like that, even kick them out of team if they continue to behave like this. Although on bigger fights there are moderators who move around players and try to regulate this as much as possible.
Incidents are always possible, and you get people quite angry screaming and cursing I hit you,you are dead, while other guy curses him that he is not etc. We even had individuals who are not 'mentally right' bring pepper gun on fight, and shoot it in the house.

There are usually medics available to team,so they can heal you,and you dont have to go all the time to the spawn and wait for respawn time.

That is the reason...

That is true, if it doesnt break, you keep playing

Airsoft i would assume will have more fights about who got hit, hissy fits etc. Paint cant be argued, just until an asshole wipes it off.

So it kinda breaks 'reality' things, don't you think?

As I already said, when you have good group of people, thing like this is not a problem because fair play is on highest level! People even tend to say they were hit if they are not sure just so the other guy doesn't feel cheated in any way.

Only when you play with 'stupid' guys.

Well,it's small  Tongue
Here some of our fields are several square km big, because people play across whole country, even on military terrain.
And there is rly quite joy when you play on big terrain, lots of forests etc. you can get lost quite easily, and when you are last guy alive,it becomes rly epic(not to mention that in some forest there are wild boars! So you see their footsteps, and suddenly each  sound you hear in forest becomes scary Cheesy ) :p

Lol well its not really realistic to be shooting pebels and people arguing that they havent been shot right? The paint will im sure of create less arguments meaning more of a realistic environment.
atleast red coloured paint looks like blood haha

Sure, but its still a small scale of people, not large scale like the 350 people, over a 'small' battlefield :p so a war experience includes large scale operations which will make paintball much more efficient yeah, cuz you know when you or your enemy is painted = less arguments and referring back to my first post.

Quote

again, 'small' amount of people that you know, not good for a large event.

Paintball isnt about realism though, I know the organisers and veterans of these event do not call them weapons or guns but markers and frown on people who use those terms. They are not "killing" people, they are marking them to be out. So is like, more mature cuz we are not playing war, but from our discussion we just had ive come to the conclusion that apart from the weapons, it is the most inadvertently realistic game lol. go figure

It gives you most realistic war experience, yet, you are not playing war?! Kinda contradictory.

You are only looking on single aspect of it,which is paint. And then you say there are 350 people playing on 120 acre, which just sounds like one big cluster fuck to me,no where near to realism. Because in reality,if so many guys come to one place, you just need to drop bomb, sent drone, some mortar rounds etc. and most of guys will be just dead! Hell, you probably wouldn't even have to aim much, just shoot and you will hit someone.

As far as situation is here, almost everyone I know, finds airsoft superior to paintball when it comes to real life experience. Heck,I even started to dislike it,because some guy's are acting like it's the real deal, while in reality they are shooting plastic pellets.

haha now you're thinking perfectly. neither airsoft and paintball can be realistic, war is far more complex XD
atleast this event has a hierarchy army and shit, ill tell you my experience if its a cluster fuck or not next saturday when we play, i was going to buy a procam but is kinda expensive, maybe next year, but other people will be recording so ill share the video here to.

Well as far as that, id be pretty angry if people started to think it was the real deal and thought they would be better in the army then real soldiers putting their lives on the line. I do see that in airsoft... like the photos you've posted and such.. people playing at war is silly.

Well,I can tell you it feels good all geared up  Grin

And you do wanna try to use some real life tactics like cover guy while he runs etc. But then you have guys who do training every weekend. They do push up,crawl in mud,get training videos from real forces and tray to work hard as shit to be like those guy,go down in building with ropes etc etc. I mean, okay,I get it,every guy kinda wants to be soldier, but it's a fucking game. You are not soldier or commando! Most of them probably wouldn't even know how to hit target at 10m. But when you come on field, something in your head snaps, and you get hungry for blood,I saw it!

Not to mention that half of the guys are overweight and cant run 100m without loosing their breath. Every one wants to be soldier, dress nicely, but no one wants to do 10km marches with gear on Roll Eyes

ANd then you also have lunatics who think of this as training for apocalypse, because you know,it might be right around the corner, and tomorrow you will need skills you got from airsoft to survive in 'new' World  Roll Eyes
