I was considering purchasing this, and seeing as I know several people here have it, I'd like to know what you think of it. Is the gameplay fun? Is the online community active? That sort of thing.

Pretty fun.

Community is Ok size, should get a bit bigger with the steam sale. But the community is quite the noob hater.

Gameplay is very fun, and for 50% off I recommend picking it up, as well as the new game modes they released for free I definitely am up to some Wargames again.

Another question: what would you compare the gameplay to? Is it similar to RUSE? Company of Heroes? I've watched videos but they don't quite accurately display the "feel" of it.

I would compare it to Ruse KIND OF... think a vastly improved RUSE meets EIRR.  Your army you 'prebuild' before a battle... and there is infantry and tanks and helis so you got multi roled units... infantry can hide in woods but woods are far better here... you got artillery... oh and supply is really important, many of the heavier tanks and arty require constant resupply and units have realistic ammo counts (for example Apaches don't have 100000 missiles, so after they fire off their missiles you need to send them back to reload, etc).  Tanks can run out of fuel, AT units can run out of missiles...  again, for 50% off (is it for the weekend or just today?) at 19.99... you really can't go wrong.

Hmm.

A odd combination of ruse, CoH, and men of war.

No game alone feels like it. Quite unique feel. Its realistic, and everything has a long range. Things can die very quickly, unless its a tank with superior protection. Weapons are a hit and miss sometimes.

I think its the realistic range for weapons is what makes this game feel the most unique.

It feels so good when tanks fire, and hit.
