So by now most of you should know that coh 2 is on its way and will be released sometime next year.

And i have heard from the dev team that they would transfer eir to coh2 if they could, so im just wondering how that would work out?
Like will it only be russians and the Ostheer as playable factions or will the old factions somehow be playable to?
Would the EIR we're playing now be shut down? How long would it take to get everything up and running for EIR 2, some days, some weeks or mounths?

I understand that the dev team wont have so many(if any) answers to my questions but i would realy appreciate it if you(the dev team)would just have a clue on any of these questions and told us about it or atlest send a response about this. Pretty plz

Hard to answer your questions specifically until we see exactly what CoH2 is or how it works.

They would probably run next to eachother, until we manage to fully integrate the western front into COH 2. That is provided they don't kill mods in COH 2 like they did in DOW 2.

Methinks itl be the way of BF3: "Pay us $60 for mostly useless content and 3 new maps (that suck). AND NO MODDING SUPPORT, PEASENTS!"

it seems to be the way big companies are going these days despite the fact that modding extends a games life by at least 5 years.

If there are good mods, then people will go out and BUY the game just to play, tahts what i did. I found eir, i bought opposing fronts just to play.

It's gonna be a race. EIR vs OMG, who goes first?

Before that happens, we should nerf the panther again because it's too op.

You have to appreciate that companies run on market analysis. The modding community only makes up a small sliver of the overall market; so developing a product that supports their needs has very low return.

You have to appreciate that companies run on market analysis. The modding community only makes up a small sliver of the overall market; so developing a product that supports their needs has very low return.

Companies don't put in mods for the sole reason to push DLC's, it has nothing to do with the size of modding communities, which in the past have shown themselves to be quite large and diverse.

The reason for lack of mods is completely shown by the marketing of EA Activision, in which the lack of mods help sales of sequels and further games which would be otherwise hampered by the renewed interest that mods happen to have to a game.

Companies that have embraced this (valve) are starting to dominate the market due to this form of marketing. This is why games Half Life 2, Counterstrike Source, Warcraft 3, Homeworld 2 and COH have lasted 6+ years comparative to COD 2 and other games.

Its also for this reason that larger companies that operate like that have had recent trust in them drop, due to the tendency for extreme DRM that has popped up with these money grabbing measures.

The mods keep game sales going when no one would otherwise buy it. The problem being is that most game companies are on the stock market which just has retarded business practices, that in the end are not practical. That's why you constantly see companies get bought and sold because they didn't hit their projected margins. I think the stock market is what fucks up so many great companies into being big piles of gooping dog shit that it's own mother couldn't even love anymore.

Also, if they made worthwhile dlc's people would still buy them and they wouldn't loose out on the money.

I spouted some jokes about the naming scheme of EIR 2.

Currently we're Europe in Ruins:Reinforcements(EIRR)

With CoH2 we can become Eastern Europe in Ruins(EEIR)

Ohh man, that joke it so bad even the nazis wouldn't bomb it.

I looked forward to coh2

What would the added value of Iceland be? (Other than a place for Germany to build naval bases)

...

Cod 2 had a large diverse of mods that extended the life for pc gamers who knew about the mods.
