Hey all,
So i woke up today and turned on my computer only to have it stall at the very first bios graphic. I restarted it a few times and it would not go past this first screen where it tells me to hit delete to enter post and tab to enter something else. So after about 7 times it finally turns over and starts as normal with no error messages.
I've never experienced this before... I googled the problem and some were saying it is a hard drive problem.
Any ideas from you all?

If it just hangs up with no sounds from the internal speaker its most likely a problem with the power supply or the mainboard.
Next guess would be ram and than graphics card but those usually come with an accustic signal if
theres a problem.
U can try turning your pc around (so the bottom faces up). Sometimes helps with a damaged power
supply, had my own once running upside down over 2 years cause it wouldnt otherwise..
Half sided loose perhaps? I dont know, not an electrician, but i know that if u dont get a error sound,
the bios doesnt even come to the point to check the hardware.

Could very well be a hard drive problem.
One time I messed with my BIOS and i was stuck in a POST boot loop

But the hard drive isnt even started by the bios until after the first screen, and it should display the error because everything else is loaded n checked before the hard drive. The BIOS is stored on the mainboard itself with an independent power supply (battery). So, with a damaged power supply it has enough juice to supply the mainboard, but not the whole pc and you get the stall. But there could be also a couple of other things causing this, in any case, its a hardware problem and you will surely have to invest some bucks, if its not just a loose cable for wich you probably have checked allready  So check it out and test some things or just bring it to a pc store, but thats not neccessary in most cases... |

Well, simply put its not the harddrive. It could possibly be the power supply, but thats not likely for just hanging up during the post.
If you want bring it up here sometime, we can go to my work and I'll get out my trusty Postcard and run it, see where its hanging. That will give us an idea of where a defect is, if one exists.
If you want to diagnose it at home, unseat all your cards and ram, reseat everything. Try again. If its not working, pull out one RAM dimm and test, then the other. If you have on board video, take the video card out and try it with just the onboard. I also have a powersupply tester at work, so we could check that too.

It has not happened since yesterday, but I will take you up on that offer AMPM if it happens again. P.S. i'm not moving to the south if the alliance goes dude.... I hate the south. Might fly some pvp ships down to clone down now and then.

Dude... the freaking capitol fleet is re-deploying like 50 jumps south around Khanid area... you don't logistically move 100+ caps just to get in a fight. You move them to take space.
