Question remains... is the game still even worth booting up after a year?

To put this in perspective.

I've launched every game on my steam list recently(being freshly out of the hospital with lots of time on your hands does that)

Everygame except this one.

I would also like to add I watch fox news everyday all day and will continue to watch it while being proud of that fact. I'm sure you enjoy your communist news network just as much.

So, for shits and giggles and sence i am done with school for the year i decided to install Sots2 again thinking it was still a piece of shit but it Actually isnt.
its remarkably smooth and interesting with literally no crashes even after playing for 2-3 hours but still, even with that Moo3 or Endless space is are still better games.

Saying MoO3 is a better game says a lot. You're right that sots2 is much more stable, and they fleshed out all the broken systems.

However it's still sots2. And it's so painfully slow. I played for a few hours and the combat is still good at its core. Getting to the combat is what blows chunks. The system they've gone with of naval bases and supply ranges and endurance is really limiting. It makes the gameplay so stagnant. It's very hard to actually make any significant headway into enemy space.

At least in Endless Space you may not be able to blitz a planet rigt away but you can push your fleet past it to keep aggression up.

If I had a game with full ship customization and Homeworld style combat I'd be in heaven.
