Anyone going to be playing SimCity? I also have a discount code for $20 dollars off if anyone is interested in partnering up and not being a douche to build cooperatively.

Hah, Enjoy being surrounded by citys called Detroit.
they are still sticking with the MMO like function where 1 city would randomly affect another one right?

I feel like if Smokaz and Shab met up it would be a 50/50 tossup to see which one of them robbed the other first.

That's like offering Beer to fuck the fat chick. It will work for a while, but it's not gonna last. Not only that, but there is zero motivation for the Fat chick to loose weight.

There are so many reasons why always DRM is bad, so few why it's good...
In fact, is there even any?

Well, apparently for SimCity it's because all the simulation is needed to be done server side cos an average CPU can not handle it.
Which, to me is a crock of shit.
They developed a entity process for things like sewage etc, which was meant to give accurate yet extrapolated sim data for the city.
Which, to me says that its perfectly fine for an average CPU.
Their DRM is 'always connected' so people can buy the extra buildings etc. Which is bullshit for a gmae that you pay full price for, and then pay MORE for extras.
If I buy a car, I fucking want it with the goddam wheels and steering column. Kinda goes without say ya know?

Running it off a server?, doesn't that mean if the server is down the entire game is night night?, at least until the servers are back up

Firsty Tig, No, he does not get a fully working game by normal PC standards, if we use the car analogy again it would be like this.
A car he can only drive when the company allows him to, and his usage of said car is always monitored
A car he is not allowed to modify in any way, he is only allowed to buy "official" mods from the car manufacturer
A car that will "Expire" the day the company does not want to support it any longer
All 3 of these would be pretty unacceptable in a car, dont'cha think?
Also, "If the drivers were optimal", you sure that's the explanation you're looking for? Because when looking for things to blame poor performance on I normally don't blame the drivers first, even if they could be a cause.
Also, I can think of MANY games that are both prettier, run more entities and pretty pixels on screen than the new sim city does without framerate issues, many of them more than a year old at this point. That just reeks of poor optimization to me than anything else, or a poor engine... Or
SERVER LAG
Last time I checked anything I knew, the pretty shit you see on screen is mostly GPU based, at least around drawing stuff in while the simulation side of things would be CPU based, if what you say is true then the new Sim City game should have a rather low CPU requirement compared to other games in it's class, now I won't know this for another day but I kind of doubt it does.
This is just a way to fuck over consumers with shitty DRM just like diablo 3 was.

Another thing that makes this thing so suspicious is the fact that they need their servers to simulate this for at least million people given the popularity of this series. If the simulation really is that intensive, I really doubt they would feel like investing in the amount of processing their servers would need to pull that off for everyone, or at that point it's oughta be spread so thin my PC could handle it on it's own.
Yeah, I'm not PC wizz, but this reeks of shit.

No, you can't play it at all when the server is down (like in Diablo 3).
Tig i PLAYED the fucking game while servers were down, so did Lionel, Jodomar and Sharpg. Please stop spouting bs on the forums without research. You can not connect to the game while servers were down, but if you were already on, it will not instant disconnect you unlike D3.
