MP40 Submachine Gun

Thompson Sub Machine Guns

It can be seen, continuous Fire is with the Thompson not possible, with the MP 40 it is
but Thomson and the MP40 is the same weapons class.

Maybe because the MP-40 which is a 9mm has less recoil and fires smaller rounds than the M1 thompson, which fires .45cal rounds which are bigger.

The officer is considerably better than a riflemen squad at carrying weapons. Officers have good accuracy so they will hit most targets.

maybe a Thompson is better by rushing into a building but not on a field combat,
and not every soldier in WW2 is using a kevlar weste so is 9mm a killing caliber.

The Thompson is no more difficult to fire full auto or to control than the MP40 or any other SMG. The stigma that the thompson's recoil was hicher because of the .45acp round it fired and its open bolt design is completely untrue. And in fact, the Stg44 offered no improvement in controlabillity during fully automatic fire, only a general increase in accuracy, range, and utility.

And in fact, the Stg44 offered no improvement in controlabillity during fully automatic fire, only a general increase in accuracy, range, and utility.

The MP40 had less recoil and muzzle rise due to slower rate of fire, built in muzzle brake and lower caliber ammunition and because of this was able to be fired in fully automatic, it also had greater effective range due to higher muzzle velocity but slower lower rate of fire and less stopping power than that of a Thompson. War time production M1 Thompson's did not have a muzzle break and was only useful when fired in short controlled bursts.

The STG44 was not supposed to be fired in full automatic. It was a great invention because it had the range, accuracy and stopping power of a rifle while at the same time being able to maintain a much higher rate of fire. So yes, of course it benefited from a higher rate of fire.

lol volks, the tommy gun was notorious for being a full automatic shotgun basically, spraying shots everywhere, you could fire full auto at a target and completely miss the full auto could be so bad.

mp40 was a great weapon and could be used everywhere

however, if i'm storming a house, give me the tommy gun.
