Hey all, just wanted to post a quick thread and gather people's thoughts on what they think about the current state of the calliope.

We all know it was far too cost efficient with the T4 that enabled the maingun, but as of right now, its an extremely subpar unit, arguably one of the worst artillery pieces in the game in terms of cost and its offensive capabilities. The new ability: "Dual Rocket Racks" sounds nice on paper, but what is 50% more rockets honestly going to do?

I have a couple of suggestions/ideas to rebalance the unit, please note these are just IDEAS.

1.) The simplest and quickest solution, albeit probably not the most ideal suggestion for the unit in terms of its usefullness: Reduce the cost from 500 Manpower/365 Fuel and reduce the pop from 12 to 8, 9 or 10?

2.) Reduce the damage on impact and make it into a nebel in terms of suppression and give it DoT damage, or just increase suppression and keep the damage the same so that it can keep infantry in its rocket spread and become a better blob controller.

3.) Flat out increase the damage on the rockets and give it a tighter spread (Or one or the other), even shotgunning is very often not successful in killing targets.

Anyway, these are my suggestions, go wild!

They should really just change its pop to 8-9 after they removed the main gun doc buff, the maingun was the only thing that made it a real pain in the ass as it not only made it a decent arty peice but also enabled itself to defend itself against almost anything PE could trow at it.'

Tbh i would much rather at the moment have a WM def stuka because atleast that thing can rip trough blobs semi consitantly and you cant really say where exactly where its gonna go down unlike the cali where you see it move up to the frontline and even then you can just move to the sides to avoid it.

OR...just make it an upgrade for a Sherman, give it 2x 16 rocket barrages and 1x 32 rocket barrage, like it actually had...

but if its getting limited barrages why don't other vehicle based arty get uses.
Like the hotch stuka, stuka HT.

TBH t4 usk main gun wasn't that bad of an offender , especially seing it was a bloody t4

I never liked the calliope to begin with, it was always a hit or miss kinda deal it's scatter could fuck you over completely or grace you. IMO very inconsistent artillery piece when compared to other's. even the 25LBR got a reduce scatter T3 and the hummel gets incendiary barrage.

And the rocket's being such small projectiles compared to 1 massive projectile with big splash. I just don't know you would aim for a ATG or something at end up hitting the tank 10 yard to the left.
