Problems with Carentan

This replay illustrates the problems with Road to Carentan. I personally think that this replay also points out why allies need some form of non-doctrine artillery. Also, this is why you never attack vs. Defense Doc.

Look it was me, DB vs Aldog & Duck. Road to caretan.
Allies attack, axis defend.
2 Armoured allied players vs 2 defense axis players.
Basically, the run was, they had the flanks TT'd and barbed. Mg's lining the openings, and an 88 to start with, parked south of the church. It became the situation that it was an ultimate defensive line. No one could break through without being 88-ed or suppressed by MGs. After about 9 minutes, a second 88 parked itself in the courtyard beside the large statue (you know the one). Basically, we had nothing. We couldn't do anything whatsoever. I lost both shermans, barely saved by Pershing after an off-map arty barrage pounded it, my greyhound (which, for some reason, I am unable to repurchase, may have something to do with price changes), and many other units. Our only arty, my mortar, was killed within the first 5 mins of battle. flanking wasn't possible, bombardments weren't possible, nothing...
Now the problem we are bringing up is a combonation of 3 things: the Map, the Allied doctrines and the axis doctrines.
Map: Road to carentan is very skinny. especially territory-wise. Pick any other 2v2 map. (standard preferrably). Is it long and skinny? No. Is flanking possible? Yes. Are there only a few buildings, that, in the situation of EIR, the defenders would get their hands on to secure half of the entire map? No. There are no topographical variables either (that's hills, valleys and other things that can protect your units). The town in Road to Car. is the fighting point. That's what people fight over. Anyways.
Armoured doc: No on OR off map arty. (I have a pershing, not a colliape). No special infantry. Everything is standard except for that pershing. This is the main problem with the Americans. All the strength is in the companies. With the germans, good units all come standard, and then some areas are expanded on. The Germans have: more artillery (even with Stukas as a defensive doct. unit), better tanks (A moble gun, a medium tank, an anti-inf tank, and a "medium" tank [which is really an overproduced heavy tank, classified because of a loophole]), better infantry, (KCH, grens & volksgrens, which are more customizable than riflemen, and have lower copcap). Better weapons teams (Pak's cloak ability wreaks havoc on tanks that do not have adequate armour, Poineers have take up 4 PopCap, rather than 6), better light vehicles, (the Puma is better against infantry, and is cheaply upgraded to be MUCH better vs the Greyhound.
The American faction is mainly based on cheaply produced, low-quality units that work well in large numbers (Sherman vs P4, rifles vs grens, etc.), think about it! So when the armoured company, a company based on ARMOUR, which does not focus on that. There is no auxillery infantry to spam, is there?
It's really hard to do direct attacks with that kind of combo.

Rails and Metal is long and skinny!
I agree though, Carentan is a bit hard to attack on... but so be it.

You didn't have any artillery and were both armour without a calliope so you were just unlucky.
I've played RTC so many times and sometimes it's harsh, sometimes it's not... that's the downside of a frontal assault map, the gameplay is a lot less predictable than for other maps.
St.Hilaire can be a lot more harsh
.
In addition, I watched the replay and believe you could've made a harder push on the right side at the start.

RTC is the most played 2v2 in EIR and this has not come up before, i think you might just have been out played.

I think you will find your problem in the above quote.

Guns cost munitions, when do you use fuel to use a gun?
