i just got what he meant with 1 volks squad because the thread was created after our game yesterday (3v3 on dday, axis attacked) and i usually support my mp40 squads with 2 usual volks squads from behind (20% extra weapon range -> volks better range than allied hmg by 1m or so)

the 1 "single" squad to some point of the game was the remaining of my starting platoon, a vet3 volks squad with mp40's and medkit, supervised by a vet3 officer with medkit..  Grin

so yeah, those guys can kick ass, but you didnt use bar supression fire once in the game (or at least not on my squads as far as i remember) and there wasnt much of focus fire either.

anyways that was the 3rd battle for that company, my Volkssturm company i created to test the weapon range + for infantry (with a shitload of volks with fausts and thats mainly it). You just need to work on your micro, my volks would just die if i used em like the casual allied player his rifles. If you would watch the replay you could see my volks constantly moving into cover, keeping distance with the rifles, flanking cover with mp40s and so on..

-> bar supression on the squad with the mp40s, move in with rest of the rifles, make infantry halt (paff paff, volks dead) move close to the long range volks, they should retreat by that point, job done..

some ppl also retreat rifles in situations where its far from decided, i see that more and more often. instead of getting into cover, move a bar up n stuff or look where the next m8 is they just go like "oh noes, a squad of vet3 grens!!!! ill better retreat my 4 squads of rifles directly off map!!!"

You must support, young children!!! HMG's are severely underused by new players... Putting Hmg's with some units can be a lifesaver against Stormshreks, gren squads and Volks-Fausts... I don't do it much, mostly because I don't usually have spare HMG's to 'dick around' with, as AMPM would say...

Anywho, in case it helps anyone, I will give some allied Tips, which may spill over to the Axis, if, well, stuff happens...

1. If you ever see a PaK, and you're driving at full speed towards it, and there aren't any other AT squads there, keep going. Any vehicle (unless you're in a severely compact area such as a town or dense forest) can do circles around a PaK. Or, if you don't feel like risking it, because your balls are made of jello, you can just keep driving. For christ sakes, don't stop right in front of it, and then turn around and drive away. You'll be out of a newly-built Sherman, or whatever you have...

2. M10's are no good against infantry? Bahhh... Y'ever run over the enemy guys before? Works real well, I'll tell ya that! When small squads (which is every german squad, except for the volks) are close to buildings, fences, sandbags, or whatever they can't get through, they have an especially hard time getting away from enemy (that's us) armour. When your M10 can't get a shot off on the KCH, try ploughing through them at breakneck speed. Quick 'spazm' turns are helpful too...

3. Use BAR suppression fire!!! Don't have a BAR squad die before it uses this ability! If you find some juicy units, such as Stormshrecks, KCH, LMG squads, or whatever happens to speak German and carry a gun, can be suppressed and killed so easily, just hit the button once, and make sure you focus fire. That means right clicking on the enemy mans, not just chasing them down. Also, make sure that they are at least decently close, and by that I mean that they are not exceptionally close to your line-of-sight limit. If they are, and you try to focus fire, they will not only get away, but your ability will be lost for 900 or so seconds... And for that matter, don't chase them down for too long, or you'll loose your squad to HMG's, an Ostwind, StuH 42, or something of the sort which they can easily have...

4. Don't be stupid, micromanage. Those riflemen may be cheap, but they sure aren't powerful against much. Same goes for a tank. If you're going to call one in (and I've done this too many times because I'm mad that someone just destroyed my Vet 3 Calliope) a sherman, or M10, don't chase down enemy armour to complete destruction. Unless you have 4 more tanks, and you won't, and they have a city of repair bunkers, (which the amour company needs to have access to!) , they're taking that 4% health P4 off the map...

Fuck, but I'm out of patience, my bloody liver is up to something... Could be my spleen, but I don't care, it hurts, and someone else can give you more tips...
