For all discussion about sins of a solar empire that I could think of, without the messy thread.

To start it off in a certain direction:
What kind of fleet do you guys prefer? Mine is typically a vast fleet of support ships backed by 2 or 3 crucial capital ships.

I don't know about that, I've seen spam meet some seriously untimely ends sometimes.

I've only played v. A.I., But i find that I rarely research all of the cruisers/frig and go straight for capitol ships.  Once you can field about 6 of them you just steam roll.

That's because you play the AI. Missile frigs pwn the hell out of capitol ships. Combined with a dunov battlecruiser, akkan battlecruiser, and kol battleship, a missile frig swarm backed up by some kodiaks is just win.

You are playing beta 3, which is horrendously out of date compared to beta 4, which itself is horrendously out of date compared to the final build.  If you want to form a judgement on the game, wait for the demo...

Missile frigates are horribly vulnerable to the area effect abilities that several of the capital ships have. And fighters.  And the combat cruisers.
