People can add it in there themselves, it's only a line of text like Kolath said.

Since we're talking about a number of maps, there's multiple problems.
1. I do not want to have them be in the list on top of the original vCoH maps they're supposed to replace, the map list is already cluttered with too many maps, making map selection a difficult process. In addition, a lot of the maps in the ingame map list don't even get played.

2. We're talking about a large download here, I'm not sure everyone will be up for downloading these improved versions.
Having them optional is not an option when they have to replace the original vCoH maps. So fl- needs to agree on forcing these maps onto every EiR player, basically including it in the original download.
This is only reasonable though when the download is not too large.

3. They need playtesting, which can be done by adding a line in the .module file to even see if these changes are sufficient. I also don't want to overload fl- with .module changes that might have to be removed again later on.

Even if the module file had 300 map names in it. Woud it really affect anything?

Yes, the moment a map has to be removed out of that list, all the archive numbers beyond that map have to be adjusted again, which is an annoying job. In addition, fl- might also desire to add other things to .module in the future, things that do not relate to the mapping project but the mod, like a skinpack. (Archive 1 -5 for instance atm)

Also, I need to keep track of all the maps and their .sga's, write mappacks and keep the mappacks completely up to date.
(Which requires adding all the mapnames into a .exe writing script twice, one to install and one to uninstall.)

There's also a clear policy on adding maps to the .module but that's less of an issue right now.

Like I stated, the main issues are 1 & 2.

It's really not at all difficult to get people to copy paste one line into the .module file once they extract the battlefiles.

1. The module file is largely based on a launcher which automatically updates the numbers and maps added the the module...you can download it on the relic forums if u wish to play custom maps easier

2. if u hit the number of player checkboxes you will find that the list of maps is very managable...

I really think that this whole thread is about you being mad at me for uploading the file when you wanted to play my brother but couldnt...and made me stop the upload...

Only if fl- confirms he can replace the original vCoH maps with these fixed versions and incorperate these fixed versions of in the eir download. (Since it should be a mandatory dll)

no i like the v maps let us have both....

1. I don't see how that's relevant. We use a different system, a system that requires our users to manually download all maps. The only thing that automatically updates for the user is the .module file which only makes them capable of playing the map when having downloaded the map. Although they can still add it to the .module manually.

As for your last comment, I can assure you that has absolutely nothing to do with it.

If you have paid any attention to the custom map community you would have relized that the module file was originally part of a SGA map fix for the relic online custom map community which with the help fl fldash and mannerheim helped create
this is my last post...i am currently making a batch file to overwrite the updates to my module so that i can control what maps are in it with out having to rewrite it every damn time.

ok tell me what i need to fix to get this in or

what personal issue is buging you?

Frozen & In der Hitze (Stop making these annoying mapnames Duck Wink) have been added to the .module.
Didn't find a dll link for Frozen.

Please attach download links when requesting additions/updates of your map dll. I'd rather not spend my time searching the map building forum for the right & latest dll link.

I'm completely aware of that and have already requested a simular program for use with EiR some day, however I really do not think fl- has the time needed to look into that right now, nor do I desire him to. It can wait, but if you can write your own program, that'd definately be interesting.

Here's my problem Wink
(In writing: the huge map list, cluttered with a lot of maps people don't play, adding a second version of a lot of vCoH maps will only make the list a lot longer and the download-burden on our playerbase even larger.)

Unknown, it's not any better having vCOH maps that noone plays cluttering up the map list.

People have been suggesting fixing these maps on and off since EiR mapping started and IIRC the policy was "that sounds good if you wanna do it."  It's just that noone bothered to do it.

This may be the most offensive thing I've read.  At least, today.

Is there anyway we can just exclude the maps that we don't use?  Like we only use the fixed EiR maps and remove the vCoH maps?

yeah thats why relic added the number of player buttons to make the number of maps in t he drop down managable...now come on unknown..you and me both know this is a bunch of BS

also is the archieves thing not working cause it let me host a game without the sga in my module...

Yes. We were on about that amongst the devs a few weeks ago, remember?
