The elitism exhibited by certain players who figure themselves to be prominent members within the community simply disgusts me.

There are people who come in to the main channel bragging to everyone about an inflated KD ratio after playing in a game with teams that are obviously not of the same calibur, then blatantly refuse to join another game that is trying to get started on the sole basis that the single player already waiting on their side is not skilled enough to be their teammate.

How can we have players like that gloating over their "superior" skills and playing records, claiming that they and their opinions are valid assets to the community, when they refuse to even play with other members of the community who quite obviously know how to play but who might not be in the top tier of play?

In my opinion, these players are failures of the highest calibur and should be excluded from games by those of us who are here to enjoy playing with individuals of all skill levels in an effort to improve their skills and help this community grow.

I think players hold the full right to arrange teams and choose their teammates, obviously though the downside of this will be the likelyhood of not getting a game because no one will want to play against you.
I believe 2.0 will introduce a system that fixes this.

Let's be honest, if you've ever played CoH automatch 2vs2 you'd know how frustrating it is to be teamed up with a more novice player. This concept is also not advisable in a competetive environment.
(And that's why 2vs2 automatch has never been seen as a true representation of skill)

That is a bullshit excuse, especially when players feel that it is alright for them to gloat over victories against other opponents in a manner that is demeaning to those who play.  It's a disgrace.

I think it's honestly up to the player to decide whether they want to play on a team or not in a game. It's silly to get frustrated because people don't want to play a game with particular players...if they don't want to play, they don't want to play. You could simply call it their loss?

This seems like a big whine rather than a legitimate complaint.

Then bring it up to those specific players, I don't see how posting this on this forum will do anything about it.

if people don't want to play with teams, fine. Whatever. Being dicks about it, not fine. Gloating, not fine.

I'm not entirely suprised that the very same people who are exhibiting such behavior are the ones who also post to try and legitimize it.

The fact is that we're a small community, and players don't have to act like a-holes.  We all know each other, this isn't Reliconline at large.  If players want to be dicks, then I will talk about it.

Case in point, someone just had to go waving around his 7.56K/D ratio after a single game in the main lobby.  In fact, he's got it in his comments right now : (7.56 K/D ratio ladies)

What's acting like an asshole is posting a thread like this to antagonize people, and make them want to attack you and other players.

AMPM was proud of his 7.51 KDR, and you were jealous I'm certain. So what if he said "Dude, 7.51 KDR, rape."  What do you care? Then the fact that he did not want to play with a particular player due to their lack of skill, and this particular player was RENOWNED for their lack of skill? Oh my god, he doesn't want to play, he's going to go AFK and run some errands. Shit, must be time to post a thread about how elite everyone thinks they are.

Well, you told me to go away, so I did.  I went and made a thread.

<EDIT> For the record, that player who is "renowned" for their lack of skill has a perfectly normal record this campaign.

Why would anyone be jealous of K/D ratios? They're kind of meaningless.

There's not much anyone can do. As long as there are skill difference, you will have stacked teams and you will have people who will be neglected. You can play with the lesser skilled players but frustration can arise. Personally, I'll play with anyone as long as the teams are reasonably balanced unless I'm tired of playing with a particular person. Ie. Good player + bad player vs good player + bad player. I do agree though, due to our small community size, we should try encouraging the lesser skilled players.

No, i told you to go away if you were going to complain about people who don't want to play a game just because they feel that they won't enjoy it if certain players are on their team, not to just simply "leave vent". To whine about people not wanting to play a game with someone is just absurd.

I agree with CommanderNewbie. I've also seen players refuse to join a game because X player is on that side or they're a new player or some bullshit like that. Then after someone else joins it they laugh at them behind their backs in Vent announcing how 'raped' (god I hate that word) they're going to be.

Well Guess what; not everyone is in it for the wins, the rbs, the cps or the medals. Some people in this community are actually good for it, meaning they don't care who's on there side and I could name a whole handful of community members right now who fall under the category.

The fact of the matter is there is an Elitism amongst this community and it shows when ever those 'Elite' players are online. Does it damage the community? Probably not. What it does show is how unwilling people are to 'risk' their scores in EiR.

Unfortunately, you aren't one of them. You gave me shit for not joining a game with MrHat and Minehold, then when I said you could have the spot you refused. Get off your high horse Ak.

I will play with less skilled players, less skilled players LEARN. Other players are simply lazy and don't TRY to do better. DasNoob was an unskilled player, he has steadily gotten better. Thats the difference between people I play with and people I don't.

It's very unfortunate that's for sure.  It probably does hurt the community somewhat, but no more than the badmouthing that goes on (normally by these same players) about the modification in Ventrilo and on the forums.  It's really no different than all the people that do the same sort of thing to many other games (and mods).  Generally, these players are banned or there posts or comments are censored.  I choose to let them be and as they'll eventually dig their own grave with the rest of the community.

You pretty much restarted this war with medals as rewards to get people to play again. You want and created a competetive environment, this is what you get, not expecting this would be naive.
