First off, I think your "fact" is bullshit. I don't think you know the majority of people in WoW. From what I've heard and read, I believe that most people who play wow, play on a maxed account. Anyone with a good guild also has access to some of the best loot available (not THE best, but very good quality).
Somehow, they still play.

Anyway, that's not the point really. I think you're taking this analogy too far. There is no "grinding" here. There is ONLY PvP. We want people to have an opportunity to build up an account, but they cannot do it playing against people who have accounts infinitely stronger.

We need to match the disparity between the new players and the older players to the size of our player base. Right now, new players are forced to play with even the most experienced ones. We need to give them the same opportunities, or at least close to it.
While our player base grows, and we are able to divide the player base into groups based on experience, we will be able to increase the difference between them.

Also, the hope is that people will not play to get more CPs or whatever, but to help the War effort. O know at this point the "War" is only a side show. Without the map its something nobody really looks at. As you well know, it's something were working on.

Ah, new post... more typing.
Well if you say "No T4 to start!"... Then how long til they can get it? 3 battles? 5 battles? You're limiting them at around 40ish, while you could have spent 80CPs. Not to mention your vet units.

All I'm saying really is that you should at least give them something to play for.
They don't need a maxed out T4, full vet & 40 RB company to compete. Starting out with 25 Rbs & a T3 in this point of the war will already allow them to compete just fine. It's not at all that I don't want them to compete, it's the fact that I think they should still have something to keep playing for...

Anyway that's just my 2 cents.

At the moment they can get up to a T4. That still leaves 1 T3, 2 T4, 3 T1's to earn. I'd say thats plenty to aim for.

Grinding your way up to a t4 is the most fun. I relised it after i got it that (again) there now is less motivation.

Well, either you guys suck, or this mod sucks. If getting that T4 is what its about.. then it'll get pretty damn boring after your second, if not first, war.

You can't really compare this game to wow because, as Phil said, there is no PVE.  You can't go quest to level your company.  T4's give a huge advantage to old players and then vet on top of that.  I think 50 cp's is fine because it gives new players a chance to be something other than meat for the slaughter.  Even a noob with a T4 can put up a decent fight.

Except even if you give them lvl 80 accounts, they wouldn't keep playing.
The entire thing that keeps people playing in WoW is grinding levels and building up an account.

Beyond that you just have instances & PvP and I know for a fact that the majority of people stops playing once they're at max level with nothing to gain.

Btw that quote is pretty much as far from the fact as can be.  The goal in wow is to get to the max level and then either Raid or do Bg's.  I have 2 70's so I would know.  The game just starts when you hit the max level.

I created a company which is an experimental mixture of weird combo's, altho the CP "buff" might be a bit too much the RB's sure help with tuning up your company itself

It took me 20 games to get my T4 from scratch.  It is kind of lame b/c if i had started a few days later, I could have made it with just 5.

No matter what you say about giving new players a chance and needing to increase the population; the fact remains that persistency is the reason this mod exists and the reason why the community has stuck around for a year.  Noobs are not necessarily the worst players in the mod, but they do have the worst companies.  It has to be this way so that they have something to strive for; something to reward their time investment in the mod.  People argue that noobs can't fight vets and that they have no way to grind their companies.  This is not true.  They can fight each other, there will always be players at all different vet levels and all different skill levels in the mod.  The problem we are seeing now, with noobs being rolled, is a symptom of a small community and its transitory.  The community is growing, it is just a matter of time until there are sufficient noobs to face each other and create "PvE" in terms of WoW.  Also, the blind games are not helping.  We either need a skill-level based automatch like relic or the old ways.  The noobs should be encouraged to fight each other and learn like all of us pro's did; slowly building up their companies.  It will not be long before we have many good players to choose from for games w/ the vets.

--

There is a balance between time invested and reward.  Make it too hard to get the rewards and no one will want to play.  However, it is just as bad to make it too easy to get the rewards.  Old players will feel, rightly so, that the time they spent w/ the mod is wasted when they see noobs showing up with companies on par with theirs.  Noobs will find it great and flock to the mod in great numbers.  However, just as suddenly, they will find that there is nothing more to do and leave as quickly as they came.

EIR is close to the breaking point.  Your handing out CP's and RB's like candy.  And the noobs are coming.  However, the vets are starting to get disgruntled.

I believe that systems should be implemented to increase the persistency, not chip it away.  Something that the mod needs is an infinite progress system where companies never stagnate, but gain less and less in comparison to the other companies as time goes on.

EVERYONE STARTS THE SAME!

Yea, heavens forbid you should be beaten by someone else ever without it being fair....oh wait, none of the games are fair, because you either outskill your opponent or they outskill you. Luck is also a factor...

Too many people being babied by society into thinking that everything should be fair.

BTW, I was ganking newbs last night in EvE, and it felt oh so good.
