Ok so I've played about.. 5 games I think, and every time I get my team gets beat. I didn't know being a new player would be so difficult. First off.

Axis weapons crews vs US.

MG42s > then .30 cal. Not too big of a deal, MG42 does more damage, suppresses better, has better range and wider arc. This doesn't bother me, because I'm used to it in vCoH

Axis mortar > US mortar. This is where the problems start. In vCoH axis mortar outranges US, and this is ok because US get their mortars much earlier then axis do. But in EiR you both have your mortars at the same time, so how am I supposed to advance my troops when I can't mortar the enemy out of their area, not to mention if I get attacked, my MG will be somewhat useless.

Axis AT and US AT i can't really compare, but I'm sure the axis with their camo are much better, not to mention camo shots do more damage (camo shots are equal to US AT guns AP rounds, and camo shots are free!)

So can anyone either debunk these assumptions im making, or tell me how to counter them?

Second, vet.

Every time I play I am up against vetted storms ALWAYS vetted storms, and they tear up everything I try to throw at them. The only thing that is useful is a croc, which, good lord, the gun on the croc is terrible! It's SO bad, it takes me forever just to take out a gren squad, and i must of been firing for quite sometime before i finally killed a storm squad.

But anyways, I'm going up against vetted storms, vetted P4s/ostwinds, being a new player is TOUGH, I can't wait for the reset.

Third, axis super tanks, how the heck do I deal with those? Tigers and King Tigers are head aches!

Forth, any general advice for a new allied player, I'm airborne by the way. So I can stop whining about axis being OP  Grin

If the Axis mortar outranges you, then the fire will be pretty inaccurate.
I always use my mortar to counter-barrage enemy mortars, and when i fired my last shot they start firing and then i move. My mortars usually get pwned by storms.
I have a vet 2 mortar somewhere in my company.

All Allied players have weapon team woes when it comes to EIR. But all is not lost just because they have better stuff than us.

Having better weapons teams tends to give the Axis players a heightened sense of security, one that works to their disadvantage if they are "gung-ho" about it. So, use this to your advantage.

Wait for them to use their mortar barrages, thus revealing their location on the map. Scout the area for a nice spot to place your own mortar and wreck his shit up close.

Where Axis players have better vet 0 units, Allied players have far better vetted units. The basic Allied principle of quantity over quality is the exact opposite when it comes to veterancy. You might have to lose a few games if it means retaining your vetted units. You'll still get CPs and every now and then you'll get the resource bonus, but the important part is you will keep your vetted units. This helps in the long run.

I don't mind that I have 9 wins and 17 losses with a 34% win ratio as long as I have a shit ton of asskicking vet 2-3 Riflemen. Combined with the fact that Allies need less XP to gain veterancy, this further emphasizes the importance of vetted Allied troops. With Axis' superior "out of the box" units, its the best thing the Allies have.  Grin

One thing I have noticed though is that sometimes specialization works to one's advantage. Center your companies around your CP abilities!

And, more on the point of mortars, if you find that your mortars are being beaten by Axis mortars, simply don't challenge them at all. Leave the anti-mortar duties to Riflemen rushes. I have a vet 2 allied mortar that simply rains hell on opposing blobs and never goes near their mortars.

Also, keep in mind that the Allied .30 cal has higher penetration than the MG42. In a one-on-one fight between 2 buildings, the .30 cal has a better chance of winning. It also deals better damage against light vehicles like Pumas and halftracks.

Given that as I write this, the Allies are winning the war 484:16, your complaints about balanced units seem a little...well actually quite a bit silly.

However, your real problem is that you are new.  For one, you are going to have less vet, less CP, less RB than much of your competition.  Secondly, you are not a desireable teammate for many of the better players, so chances are you will find yourself playing with weaker teammates.  Furthermore, some of the stronger players will intentionally target you as.., well, prey.  Add up all thee realities, and you see how steep that your uphill climb is.

All is not lost though!  You do need to go through your growing pains, and pay your dues before you'll earn enough respect to be a welcome teammate in any given game.  That won't take long once you demonstrate that you truly understand the nuances of the mod.  But while you do this, and DBSights already said it, SAVE YOUR UNITS.  Retreat them before they die, and within about 10 games you will be running around with a nicely vetted company.  Better to err on the side of retreating too soon at first, and develop an accurate sense of exactly when to do it, because as you attain a more powerful company, it might be the most important skill to profess at, in terms of your long term success.

Familiarize yourself with the leaderboard, if you are up against a team with nothing but players with 60%+ W/L, and 60+ games played, you will probably lose, accept it, and use the opportunity to vet up what you can, and be sure to watch the replay afterwords, and learn both from your mistakes, and your opponents' good moves.  When you see that you are up against a team of players who are also unproven, go for the throat and try your best to win.  Those games are a better option to put your units at risk, by retreating them less aggressively.

But make no mistake, the problem is not with the units, its you.  Seriously.

LOL  Watch the new fight and see just how much vet actually does.

Retreating is NOT your most important skill in this mod.  I didn't have any vet 3, one or two vet 2, a hand full of vet 1....

Vet isn't everything.

Thanks for the replies guys! Especially jackmccrack. This makes me feel a bit better, and to ciwawa, if you actually understood my post, I wasn't really whining, I was just looking for some advice on how to handle axis troops. You also seemed to completely miss the point that im new to eir, it's not as if I was going "ZOMG axis are so OP nerf them" as im sure axis units aren't OP, im just not used to how they work exactly in EiR.

I also played a game as axis, and watching what good allied players do helped out a lot, though the had tons of vet on top of their awesome sherman micro skills, i hailed a lost in that game as well, but I'm learning a lot with each game I play.

I figured just as well that it was me and not the axis, either way, this mod is great, and even with all these losses I'm still having a lot of fun with it, rather then with vCoH which can just be plain frustrating after a loss or two.

and @ pvts.deathrose, my RO account is RikiRude. It's just the use of AB in the mod is something im still getting used to compared to vCoH

also, just looking at the territories, seems like the war will be over in the next day or two, wow, only 12 axis territories left.
