We tried two armor rushes but it was defended by two ATGs and two ranger squads at the time.

Agreed.  Its the single most overpowered unit.  (since the vCoH patch which buffed them out of sync with EiR balance)   Moreso with the T4 backing it up.

It's ok scrap, we already know you're the biggest artillery hater around Wink.
700 Fuel was too much for the Calliope, 600 might be a little too cheap, 650 should be good.

It's mainly the 50% damage bonus (vet2 + vet 3) that turns the calliope into a beast, without that and without the T4 it's really not that powerful.

It could only fire every 75 seconds and it's ALOT of work to get a colliope to vet 3, thats why it was killing infantry so well.

It's not a lot of work, don't bullshit me Wink.
I used to have a calliope myself, I lost a vet 3 to stormtroopers occasionally but it only took me 3 - 4 games on average to get it back to its vet 3.
(40 - 80 infantry kills per game on average was my usual)

It does however depend a lot on the map choice, on some maps the calliope can be a lot more devastating than on others.


But anyway, like I said earlier, it's mainly the double 25% damage bonusses that make it seem a little 'omg OP!1!1!'.

It is alot of work because you have to be protecting it constantly and it eats up alot of pop cap so you have to be careful not to get out capped as well.

i did a video cast by myself for this game as I wanted to see if it was doable, but I  kinda messed up on my video control, it looks like I have A.D.D. and am probably going to have to redo it, grr... must remember to click slower!

but man it was funny watching it and listening to all the zingers!

ya they had AT guns around it constantly, the axis could have over powered it very easily with combined arms had they pushed on it with some anti infantry infantry to kill teh AT guns and open the hole for the tanks
