Bug with front armor?

I had a M10 vs. a vet 2 Panther aiming and firing 10 feet in front of the Panther. The M10 fired and the round went through the front armor and hit the engine of the Panther. Not soon after the M10 was taken out but the vet 2 Panther was unable to get off the field before it was finished off.

I have also had little before that battle a sheck fired at my front armor of m8 and killed its engine (red).

Later someone was talking on vent about a RR group fired at max range at the front armor of a Panzer IV and hit the back end.

Is the front armor bugged or is it just luck?

its the game crappy physics, its actually a registered miss, the shell went through the body, failed to register a hit on the front, but then hit the back "hit box"

uhm, it doesn't matter where you hit the tank when you damage/destroy engines, it's a vehicle crit

he means the shot went through the tank, then "rear hit" message popped up

Tanks can get engine damage on front armor, which is probably what happened with the m8. The m10 bit sounds like the physics issue Avalanche described, although it is possible for shots from the front to hit the flank and count as a rear hit.

Newbie brings up a good point. You don't have to shoot the rear of the tank to dammage/destroy the engine. It is a critical that if the roll of the dice lands in your favour happens.

I have had the same problem. Had a sherman take TWO rear shots in a row... only problem was they clearly hit the front of my sherman. i was pretty pissed about it lol.
