Faust vs. Sticky
«

Panzerfaust:
1 use, 70MU
Sticky:
4uses, 115MU
I'm just a little curious....but is there a reason for the drastic differences that I'm not thinking of?

stickies do less damage, have a chance to bounce and do nothing on skirts, need to be thrown from close range, and are a larger investment per unit, and so you can have fewer squads armed with them for the first strike (which is what is most important here.

Faust has a chance to miss entirely.
I feel stickies are more useful due to the Damaged Engine anyway.

Nope. They do not. This was changed in a patch many moons ago. Oh, did I mention that 2 of them puts a Sherman under 1/2 health?

Fool.
Fausts are NOT awesome since 2.3. In fact, it takes just as many shots to destroy a tank from the ass as it used to (3-4). And If you factor in that the MU for that many is 210-280 then you can see that it is way over priced since it is a 1 use deal. I have experimented with them since the patch on many occasions. They do not buy you ANY respect from allied tank commanders... if anything, the single use gives the allies a green light to drive right into the volks or KCH once they survive the faust hit.
Allies might say, "but you critically damage the tank" and I say, woo hoo for 210-280 MU and a dead volks or KCH squad I can damage a tank that then may or may not be taken off map?
No thanks, I will continue to buy shreks at the 100 MU price. It is a no brainer.

Usually keep a Volks around my PaK guns with a Faust to cover it (or fake like they're going to cover it).

The only advantage the has Faust over the Sticky and even the Shreck is the fact that most people will most likely not expect it on the Volks squad.

OMG so I can spend 140MU on a single use weapon that MIGHT put a Sherman to 1/2 health? Na I think I will stick with my Gren squad with 1 shrek and 1 med kit and use my superior micro to WTFPWN the allied tank to it's DEATH.

I'm never driving my Pershing into Volks again. With a Sherman I'm fine, but Fausts absolutely tear the living hell outta Pershings. As Axis, I don't mind running over Riflemen with cheaper armor such as Stugs/Stuhs/Ostwinds and even the occasional Panzer 4. It's only the Panther I keep away from Riflemen, though if the scenario is desperate, I'll use it to run over them anyways.

I prefer to mix the two. It gives you good burst damage, which is helpful for shutting down crocodiles as fast as possible and will let a shrek squad beat a sherman.
Remember bonus damage from rear shots. With a faust that's incredible.
Also.... I mean...
crab flails
. I don't trust limited #s of shrekkers. xD

Also, I lost a game due to not enough anti-infantry units, so airborne get double damage at each vet level.
More changes to come.

The idea isn't to rely on fausts for primary AT, anyway.

Well, he does have the point that there aren't really any real # of Tanks w/skirts rolling around. If the Rifleman manage to throw, it will never* misses. If you fire the Panzerfast, it can still clip into a wall or an annoying object that JUST HAD to be there, therefore "Missing". Plus you get 4 Uses.
*ONCE, in vCOH it missed my Inf HT while it backed up behind a hedgerow, it kept flying in a straight line. Too bad though that I didn't save a replay, but it was

faust is bugged in eir
if you use faust on sherman
sherman backs up before volks fire the faust,
volks will keep chasing sherman
or if you issue another command, like move, your faust is gone forever

This game I was surprised by one of my enemies having a whole buch of fausts. I think it was around 4 squads of volks, I thought my Sherman was going to slaughter them without any problems, so I didn't look there for a second, after which I heard the sound of several fausts. Took my Sherman down to rougly 45% health I think.
In this match they seemed to be mostly useful for scaring away my tanks. But I think it's worth the munitions if you use it for finishing off almost-dead tanks (because they won't expect it, you have a better chance than with a shrek squad), as well as for M10s.
