I believe this is the first tournament to do the 'War For Europe' theme.

Epic intro movie, holy shit.

Is this just a vCoH tournament with a 'war for europe' tournament or is it actually modified gameplay?
This would be so much better with a Europe in Ruins style approach...

Can't tell.  They have a flash map on their site, but no interaction. I believe it's pure vCOH with each battle going toward the 'standings'.

Not entirely sure what it's all about, they don't give any information, just a shiny trailer... not impressed if it's just vCoH.

Lame.
Judging by their forum, they're actually willing to mod but have no intention of going on an advanced level.
You should really consider contacting them, EiR + this tournament would be an amazing promotion stunt.

Sounds like fun, but ill have to see how they mod the game.  If they just use vanilla CoH it will probably suck imo.

Correct it's just vanilla.  However, their war map looks really nice... too bad we can't integrate (read steal) it for EIR.

it will suck for those who have been enlightened, for many VCoH is still the greatest RTS out there.

Follow that link, they are modding it themselves, No new skins it seems, and no call in units since everything will be built....

Seems like they didn't do their historical accuracy homework for the warmap Wink.

I can fix the really bad flaws regarding the country outlines, but other than that, I'm really clueless when it comes to historical accuracy Smiley.

About the highway system for sector outline, hmmm, thats debatable IMO. Maybe using the same highway system, but in a extremely loose manner, to fix any of the obvious flaws (hint france's beach).

I think they are breaking Germany in 2 to make an extra sector.

However the Vichy France thing is pretty inexcusable

But still germany and all other nations have their post-war/modern borders and not the pre-WW2 borders.

Yeah,
this "mod" smells like a big pile of fail

first off, if you follow puddin's link, you'll notice this cherry from the site admin:

"We have noone who can skin or code. So at this point the mod consists of basic changes. But well see how it goes. "

Then, if you look at their other "Breaking Point" project, which is for CoD4 and has apparently been going on for a while, you'll see a few other oddities....

In the FAQ section.....
1. INTRODUCTION

Introduction

    * TBAs

GC World

    * TBA

Start As A Soldier

    * TBA

Become A Leader

    * TBA

Mission Days

    * TBA

The Canon of GC World

    * TBA

The only persistency you gain by playing and posting appears to be
"Tour Experience Perks

    * When a player has reached a certain amount of points (25), he will gain perks on the forums: Use of Signature Area, maximum pm's in their box raised, and unlimited downloads a day,"

my personal favorite though....
While its free to play, if you want to be able to pick which side of the conflict you're fighting for (and thus play with your friends) that'll be 15 bucks.   Want the ability to form a clan?  13 bucks.

This is a for-profit gig

earns a big fat meh from Andy
