Snowy map, wooded area.

Defenders spawn points come from the middle left and right sides of the map, the attackers come from the top and bottom.

Defenders have the advantage of having their call-ins come in very close to them, good set up positions, and lots of green cover.

Attackers are at a disadvantage with their call ins coming from the top or bottom of the map, have to cross open fields with little cover, but have the advantage of already having their enemies surrounded.

The map would look somewhat like carentan, and I'm not sure if it would be a 2v2 or 3v3.

I've never made a map before so we will see how it goes. If any map makers want to steal the idea feel free to do so!

My available companies:
Allies:
*AB company going for raid assault
  Infantry going for tank reapers
Axis:
*Defensive going for rocket artillery
  Blitz going for lightning war
And an experimental Terror company going for subversion consisting of all volks and two King Tigers

we have talked about doing surrounded maps, would be interesting to say the least.

probably best with even number of players, 2v2 or 4v4.

correct me if i'm wrong but "the attackers have the advantage of already having their enemy surrounded" ... well does the defender not have the very same advantage (even boosted by the fact that they can get in position first)?

if the map layout is like this:

+--------------+
       Ax

Al             Al

       Ax
+--------------+

everyone has everyone surrounded, but the defenders hold the map center because they get there first while the attackers get slaughtered while they "cross open fields with little cover"... sorry if it sounds like a rant, I'd love to test it, its just that i have no good experience with this mapstyle from other strategy games i've played in the past.

what would be best is to try out the whole surrounded business on another map to see how the gameplay works in general.

just my thoughts.

Sounds very interesting and fun as long as you can pull it off well.  Would deffinately love to play a map with that concept.

may be difficult to balance, set up sectors, ect ect~

sector setup wouldn't be hard if you analyzed the map lay out to make where the majority of sectors are not in the defenders zone in.  Would have to be BETWEEN the defenders and attackers , else the defenders would just hold it with spawn buff.

And in the center, put tractors & pie...

Oops... I mean an open area, that is hard to defend.

Like Salan said, multiple attack lanes. Very important.

Why would it be 1v1s? If I'm attacking im going to take advantage of surrounding the enemy and sandwich in on  one side.

There is the problem spawn buffs and sector layout. I'll have to think about it. I'll probably do a bunch of sketches while I'm on the train tomorrow, since I'll be on the train for like 5 hours =(

Maybe if I put super dense tree areas near the defenders spawn so they can't be spawn camped, but also can't really use their spawn buff on attackers. Hopefully it will be possible to do this without creating a funnel effect.

Map would probably be like hedgerow siege with trees blocking certain ways.

I personally wouldn't be too big of a fan having to attack on my own, even with the thought that you have an allied up top doing the same.
I think making it a 4vs4 concept would be much more ideal and enjoyable.

Ah, I get the 1v1 thing now, I'll go for a 4v4 then, rather then a 2v2, plus I think a 2v2 would be too small. I've only played 1 4v4 in EiR so far (god the map was huge!) so I think having that much space will be easier to work with. Though I keep tossing around the idea of what shape the map is going to be, rectangular or square?

I've got some outlines for the map, it's really coming together, the problem is I've never made a map before, so I don't know how it will come out once I start actual work on it. But I do have a pretty cool story for it that I'll post later =)
