Until now, I had been a bit too lazy to post that on a particular building, you can build the "Command Squad" Which happens to the American Officer! I already posted that the Chatuea in St. Village could produce it if you had manpower (The more serious matter was that if you garrison it it would stay yours even when you leaved it).
The American Officer is apperantly called "Command Squad" and takes up 6 Popcap 340 Manpower and it box shows up Pink/Purple, he appears alone and is armed w/ a Colt .45 and can Force Retreat much like an Axis Officer, sadly he had no voice file although when he died it said "We lost an Officer!" (However the ingame Tooltip it said he was also suppose to have a "Leadership" Aura and can call-in Artillery strikes).
Since Relic has already provided a "Unit" we can model around maybe the American Officer idea isn't that too far off. Maybe we can add in an British Lt. Aura and maybe a 105mm Howie barrage like the Axis Officer. The only problem is that we need to replace the big Purple/Pink box.
(Also maybe if god forbid this actually gets implamented replace Infantry Company's "Core Beliefs" with the American Officer.)
(Will post screenshots later to show how to get him in vCoH.)

i dont think this is a unit thats intended to be player controlled(the fact you cant build an US officer in vCoH might also be a bit of a hint). probably just used for the SP Campaign...havent played it in ages so cant say for sure.
last thing US needs is more arty and an aura that boosts ranger/airborne blobbing.

No auras please. I rather it be a counterpart to the Axis Officer not a British Lieutenant clone.

There was probably a point in time where allies had the american officer available in multiplayer too, before the beta came along. The actual unit icon, tooltip, etc being present in the vCoH files pretty much supports this theory. It was then again taken out for whatever reason that may be. Hopefully one day we'll get him for EiR . (And commando jeeps!)

I heard about this unit, I think it was simply taken out because they felt like it mirrored the axis officer too much.
Although I haven't seen it myself, I'm going to guess that the pink/purple is a bad texture.

The Unit itself isn't Pink/Purple, but the Unit Icon is.

How the hel* do you get a Howie barrage to be equal to a mortar barrage?

that mortar barrage is devastating if anything is caught under it, it saturates the entire area...

I personally would like to see n Allied officer but perhaps give him new traits and not just a clone of the Axis or Brit Officer. Example: Maybe give him the ability to call in one squad of Airborne anywhere in his LOS?

I think a Smoke Barrage would be more appropriate. The American Officer is suppose to be a counterpart to the Axis Officer so they should share similar traits but key differences. Think of Riflemen to Volks/Grenadiers.
