We don't feel superior, we just feel proud of our military (before you wonder, I am also a american). Most europeans (exception british) aren't doing anything with their military these days, so why cannot we feel proud of the americans that are losing their lives in the hope of a better world?

i dunno outher country but italian are actually operating in:

Afganistan
Kosovo
Iraq
Lebanon

and other little country like. same for other european country(most from germany and french) what u say is just lack of information about foreign states.

I admire you apreciate to be proud oh having the large army of the world but once again is light years away from you can say "usa is the best army" is just not and i think we have tons of proof.

Maybe you don't know that we are there because we taked only 20 casualitis in iraq, more few in afganistan, and once again we comed only when the war was "finished" (that one with regular army as the enemy, and we sendend in policeman trained to urban fight [a less trained version or your swat but in italy is an independent army])
I've see many document where american soldier help building back bridge school and so on i know your soldier are not so bad, but so many crimes commited by some idiot usa soldier make ur army hated from very too much people in all the world

concord... you have great technology government program i have to admint. you have stolen many european good brain (lot of italian for sure) as in italy a  scientist (no metter biologist or weapon specialized) recive a poor wage and amount of finances (in many case the wage is lesser than a worker)


Btw army is not the same at ww2 time people don't fight for ideal, fatherland defend theyr family or think like that people fight for the very big wage that goes to the soldier that are in service in foreign country.

In other word i have to say i knowed some marines (they have many bases here) we wanted to invite them to play at airsoft with us, but we was forced to give up to invite them as when we was going to ask them they was startint a close engagment each other and we was scared .

And i have knowed other marines that arent so dick... but they are very low on number in these days

Unfortunatly true. It's just the avreg joe trooper on the ground wasn't told that when he joined, he was told he ould be fighting for his contry and freedom.

Do you think that the "average joe trooper" would fight for you if you told him that he will have to risk his life so youll make a few quick bucks?

P.S. IMO american soldiers are not the best, they are the just most widely show soldiers, and the only currently standing army. Hunders of them die there, but the media never tells the numbers, that is why people think that american guys dont die out there.

If they didn't have US supplies and weren't backed by the US, they'd have collapsed against Hitler. Russia DID win world war 2. Notice where most of the fighting took place. Notice where most of the dying took place. Sure US has its battles, Invasion of Normandy, Battle for France, but when did all that start? After the best of German forces were stalemated in the Eastern front. And while its true millions Russian soldiers died it was for the "greater good". Also the whole guns behind the front lines thing... thats not actually a joke thats a FACT.

While it is true that US sent many supplies to the USSR through the FROZEN ports where goods were STUCK the supplies were a minor issue. While they did help they did not turn the tide of war. Frankly even without the supplies from the USA the Soviet Union would still have won the war. It would just have taken longer.

Think on this while you BBQ PWN people... Asia was second front for Russia where convicts, old equipment and second hand generals were sent. Japan  could do very little with the massive frozen Siberia. Where it was beaten in 1940 by Zukov. The whole reason why it could fight there at all was because russian forces were fighting the GERMANS! However for the USA pacific was the primary are of operations, where the nice big navy fought.  OH wait, where the reamins of the navy fought after pearl harbor.

Anyway i would love to tear apart your post some more but your lack of world war 2 knowledge makes me depressed. Go back to school and take a few more history classes (and no Wiki does not count. Not unless you read all the links).

While I certainly don't agree with the spirit of his post, Lend Lease provided an incredible amount of logistical support above and beyond the significant # of combat units.  Hundreds of thousands of trucks and huge numbers of locomotives and rolling stock were shipped in and served a huge portion of the Soviet Union's logistics needed.  Whether Russia would have collapsed without this support is unknowable, but it was far more than a drop in the bucket.

The American war doctrine is outdated imo, as is the British one, but to a war lesser extent, due to the training in independence that every soldier receives.

Technically we did not lose Vietnam, South Vietnam lost Vietnam.  The United States didnt lose a single battle in Vietnam.

Korea was a stalemate, no one won that war, in fact the war is technically still on.  We just have a cease-fire.
