My "outside" hobbies include paintball, spending time with my kids/wife, basketball, movies (a huge movie fan),
Most recently I am starting up my own investment business so that is/will be taking up a lot more time...which means less time playing EiR

stumpster, why airsoft over paintball? At least Paintball, someone can't lie about whether or not they've been hit. Unless I don't understand airsoft, you can lie, and that sucks... I used to be a damn good CTF paintball player, had a modded TL Spyder way back in the day...

FL they have refs and judges all over the place in big Airsoft competitions. You should see how serious some of the people take it. You can lie about getting hit, Im sure it happens, but alot of the time the judges/refs will catch it. Its not like PB where there is only 1-2 on the field watching the entire thing, not to mention that the PB leaves a huge "Im hit" mark.
I dont like AS though, its too much like the real thing, and I get enough of that on a daily basis.

It's totally true that you can lie, but in Fresno we have a very close-knit group (and private fields). Basically, should you develop a problem with cheating and not calling hits, you won't be coming back. And spending at least $300 on a gun + equipment to not be able to play again is a seriously stupid move. On the flip side, the few times I've gone and rented a paintball gun the community came off as assholes. It may be different elsewhere, but where I live, the airsofters are much cooler. Hell, during one game someone who I hadn't ever met before that day offered to let me use his $450 rifle because my fuse blew out in the last game.
I prefer airsoft over paintball because the last good woodland paintball field closed down about a year ago. Now all we have are a couple speedball fields, and a woodland field that's about an hour and a half drive. While I don't 'hate' speedball, I really don't enjoy it enough to spend a lot of money on it either.
Surprisingly, the 'omgmilitary' aspect isn't a huge deal for me. Is it interesting/realistic? Yes, but it's not enough to really make me prefer airsoft over paintball.

Speedball is definitely lame. I like airsoft because of the weapons, but haven't yet tried it.
What is the pain difference between airsoft/paintball? I got hit in the neck one time in paintball, went up under my mask, and boy was I hurting...

Paintballs naturally have a ton more force behind them, but because of how they are designed, they tend to break outwards to get the paint splatter. That's what usually causes the nasty bruises. Airsoft BB's on the other hand have a whole lot less force, but they impart ALL of it into you.

These are quite a number of shots that are rare, but are the most painful ones to experience. I've taken quite a few shots in the knuckles and fingernail before, and those were the worst that I've ever had. They stung for a day or so, but not as bad as those shots.

My other hobbies include Judo (going up for my green belt this weekend!), Rock Band, Girlfriend, and Paintball.
For paintball I'm a big fan of woodsball. If any of you ever come to Virginia let me know. There is a phenomenal place called Warplay Paintball near Fredericksburg that does a lot of small scenario themed games.

Yeah, you want to wear some sort of face protection (other than protective goggles for the eyes, obviously). A balaclava works wonders, you can find a good one for pretty cheap, and it isn't anywhere near as restrictive as a paintball mask.
What guns do you own Reapers?

Man after my own heart, I absolutely love the G36 series. Was my first gun, and I'll be damned if I don't keep some variant in my arsenal at all times.

I love paintball personally, but I've never played airsoft so I can't comment on it. I play alot of woods games and some scenarious now and then. Playing paintball is kinda like an online fps but without the anonimity and the fact that it hurts when you get shot. I find that you often have to lead a charge on your own cuz your teammates are wussies and don't like the risk of getting shot. The main thing I don't like about paintball is how inaccurate the guns get if you have a crappy barrel or start to get short on CO2 even in the slightest bit. It makes you want to go back and play an FPS where your crosshairs are accurate 100% lol
