For those who have repeatedly asked what my monthly costs are: I pay $4.95 for web server hosting. The hosting is adequate, although the site does go down from time to time and we run dangerously close to our bandwidth limits each month. I pay $18 for Ventrilo hosting, 80 users. Seems to be more than enough, thought about downgrading back to 60 users. My goal is to get a VPS with dedicated resources from here: http://www.linode.comIf we moved back to TeamSpeak so we could host our own server, we may be able to survive on the $20 package...

A little over 50GB I think... On that $20 package, it'd leave us with around 150GB for TeamSpeak which I'm not sure is enough...

Libertine, with our client/server type setup, we need to stay away from shared hosting (what we have now). Basically we can use something like linode.com or maybe slicehost.com...

could you elaborate ? dunno how exactly EiR works but i guess its just some backend SQL with PHP frontend that does client communication ? so technically the only thing that could interfere is when the host doesnt allow all outgoing/incoming ports but if they let you run your own apps that wont be the case i guess. i really dunno how that works with aplus cause i just have basic hosting there.

When my new computer gets here I'm going to start renting a Hypernia server. If you need I can host your website and TS or Vent on it. Wont take away much from the servers I play to run.

Set up a pay pal account for only Vent and website costs. Have a side bar, the 1st of every month update server costs, bandwith usage and money in the pay pal account. With costs so low, people donating a dollar, a euro, or something quite small will allow to keep everything up and running. One thing i have learned abotu the internet is that normally people will donate small amounts to help out
