I have just ordered this game, it somehow slipped by me before. It looks great, has anyone here played it?

Played for quite a while, got a little sick of it.
Most memorable moment was getting my IS-2 stuck in a goddamn ditch and having a Tiger, Panther, and two PzIV's fire at me for a minute before I took any damage. Finally got the hell out of the ditch and drove off like nothing happened.

Step out of the way. He'll keep going until he hits a wall, that being Akranadas. Let him go unmolested, his journey will take less time.

It's very realistic and that's the problem.

I did and I thought it was the best FPS I have ever played, but then again I'm a realism nut I guess, so if you depend on crosshairs and jumping and spraying and praying to win, it most likely not the game for you.

Sounds like it could be a game for me then. I am looking forward to using the Axis tanks. Is the Tiger almost impenetrable from the front?

The thing about about RO is that you usually want to have your tanks angled at the enemy at a 1 O'clock or 11 O'Clock position as that will maximize your potential to deflect a round. The Tiger Frontal Armour (assuming a straight on-12 O'Clock position) really actually don't stand up to well against repeated T34/85 fire (Tank that you most likely face while in a Tiger) and will crumple semi-easily when fired at by a IS-2.
IMHO, in this game the Panther is pretty much the best since it has good Frontal armor and is very maneuverable and has a good main gun.

Great mod.
However, its not as realistic as some may think. Certain Axis tanks were nerfed, some axis weapons were nerfed, just cause of GLARING balance concerns.
Biggest one was before the STG44 was nerfed you could almost solo the enemy yourself. With near perfect accuracy, near 1 shot kill, and still full auto for melee... well lets just say they nerfed its ranged power.
Tiger I believe got some nerfs too. But lets be honest, the IS-2 and such were made to kill tigers. Its not like CoH where circle strafing was an issue, this is the Russian steppes, turret speed and tank speed are a non factor.

Ah well i look forward to getting it, should be friday if play.com get their act together. Can you explain the game modes? Can you have infantry and tanks in the same battle? Can two people operate a tank? Is there a certain number of players per side, and tanks with infantry etc?

No. The key is to angle your armor so that the shots bounce off. If you face your tiger square on it will be penetrated badly. Just face the tank a little off and watch the shells bounce all day long.

Submachine guns are kinda impossible to use at times. The rifle dominates. If you play MG you're probably going to die to a rifleman pretty easy (though I do have some good MG runs).
It's a fun game, just sometimes feels clunky or it gets frustrating getting sniped by pixels on the horizon.

The game mode involves taking over sectors. Victory is acheived when all objectives are taken or if either side runs out of men. There are also attack/defend games when one side must defends a certain number of objectives till the enemy runs out of reinforcements or if they survive long enough for the timer to end. Most tanks can carry a crew of three. It is for everyone to just take an entire tank for themselves because it is very difficult to coordinate and it's always better to have two tanks than a tank with two in it. Both sides should have an equal number of men. Most maps are either based solely on infantry or tanks. A few maps involve combined arms.

I have always like the idea of having two in a tank, with one driver and one gunner. What does the third person do?

That sounds great, or at least i think it does. Surely a tank with 3 players in it, will be a better killing machine than a tank with 1 player?

I guess having vent, team speak or something similar will be a step in the right direction.
