set a max time frame per turn Don't get me started. My first few games online were horrible. And I mean absolutely painful to play. I set the game speed to slowest possible, furious barbarians, no timer, and had 2 guys who were always AFK. Not to mention the game lagged too.

Agreed. The only way to do turn-based games in multiplayer is either play by email or some form of turn timer. Since Civ4 was designed from day one for MP, they improved it a lot over previous civ games. With the turn timer and simultaneous turns, it is rarely an issue.

Yes that too. Saved games are very easy and players can join games in progress by taking over AI players. Players can also leave games and let the AI take over. If the game ever goes out of sync, you can just reload from an autosave and everyone rejoins.

k, i got Civ4 Vanilla at the final patch, but when i try to install beyond the sword it says there is a patch to insstall and the aborts because it cant install the "patch" it "found"....
wtf?
Are the different patches for different language versions? That might explain it otherwise i am helpless. Latest patch installed, if i go to advandced- find update it finds nothing and still the beyond the sword install says there is a new patch, trying to get it, ups failed, aborting your instalation and btw fuck you.

I should be buying Civ 4 this week. I'll save BTS for when I have more money. Who plays it, and what are your usernames?

I'd just reinstall vCiv4 with no patches and then try to install BTS. I should be buying Civ 4 this week. I'll save BTS for when I have more money. Who plays it, and what are your usernames?
We are playing the Fall from Heaven 2 mod ver .32, which requires BTS. My username is Kolath and Salan's is Tkaudi. We are on Vent if we are playing.

A bit off topic, but has anyone played Age of Exploration? It's an old game released around 94-95. It felt like a proto-Civ game. Can't recall if it was also made by the same company or not. Maybe Sid worked some of his magic on that game first. I think it was made by Strategy First, but that may just be the publisher.
