Why would they come?

To test the units out and make sure that everything is balanced out before the persistent map and campaign is put into place.  Without testers that will never happen...that and its just damn fun too!

Well, in my experience, public tests should only come when things are very close to launch.

Well, my interest faded away after just ONE fight.
But for this, you have to understand that I'm not the kind of guy who cares about how the game can be changed. Mods is not my interest.
On the other hand, if a project offers a campaign, where each combat will actually mean something and in addition to this, gap in playing level will be smoothened in some smart way, then yes, definitely I am interested in this.

My vision is a campaign, where all players (even the n00b ones) will be able to offer to their side in each mission they play, despite of who's the opponent. And for this to happen, it needs a lot of smart choices in the actual planning of the project. If this happens, then my official and only version of CoH will be EiR. Otherwise, I can't afford having to know how to play both for official Relic version and all other mods that are around.

But I have faith that something good may come from this!

omg what a smartass

yes m8 people get bored very easily. let me tell one story its called Europa @ War if anyone of you played Battlefield 1942 then you know about Global Conflict and Europa@War. Well it was something like weekly organised 32v32 axis vs allies battles with custom maps, a lot of people(like 200 people were active), strategy map, good organisation, great modding, some of the best in bf community playing there... sounds like a fairy tale well first campaing was a huge success second campaingn also, in third campaing number of people started to drop and there wasn't enough people to start campaing 4. reasons? a lot of them: but the main reason was PEOPLE GOT BORED. Alpha testing lasted for about 3 weeks,  3 scrims were played, Armies were made generals appointed and campaing was on the way. Let me remind you that it was a shooter game where server is needed and and guys (and a girl) from the menagement did one hell of a job getting everything together so fast and making such a good campaign but people got bored quite fast.

Don't get me wrong this mod has a lot of potential but if you want it to really own the CoH scene in next 2 weeks you should make a strategic map appoint generals of two armies and start a fight cause without it i doubt this will have any succses

yes and one more thing you should make like two combat days when axis and allies attack their points on the strategic map e.g. tuesday and sunday from 7pm to 11 pm GMT and that id battle time and the rest is fun wars, training manouvres and shit like that

EDIT: ...and if we maneged to organise 32v32 battles in bf42 i don't see the problem in creating 4v4 battles ffs just post a battle time and fight for strategic map is in that time and the rest is fun and period.

sry for my bad english Embarrassed

The sheer amount of integration and persistency in COH: Europe In Ruins makes our job more difficult.  We can't just throw up a war map and assign generals and say 'Go!'.  Well, I guess we could, but it wouldn't be very engaging.

Whether or not we are successful depends solely on our ability to innovate and make the campaign fun and unique.  Our persistency measures already do more than I've seen from any other campaign, and to my knowledge we are the only people attempting to do one with an RTS.  It's a completely different ball-game...

hmm hmm i would disagree with that you could make it and you could make it on a very good way i can give you the concept of strategic map but my big problem is that my programing skill is close to 0 so i can supply you with idea how would this map work someone just has to make it into a code. i am volountering for that and if you're interested i'll write everything down  whole battle system on strat map i'll find enough time for it. So if you need hečlp with it i'm available

Ideas of how the strategic map should be implemented are obviously not an issue.  The issue is programming time and integration and persistency like I already said.  Like you said, you have no programming skills so you don't know the amount of work we have done so far and what we have left to do.

Those players that can't wait for us to get out a strategic map will move on, I'm okay with that.  They are the same players who would most likely play the campaign for a few weeks until something new peeked their interested and they'd disappear.  I'm looking to build a solid base of players that are dedicated, I don't have time to care about those that will come and go so easily.

I'm curious, what are you programming in?  I haven't seen that anywhere around the site...
