I would do it, with enough money.  I would run a bulldozer in, setup a condo, put up a wind turbine for power, sat system for net, and have my plane to fly in for supplies, and of course a boat for when the weather is too shitty to fly.

Then I would set forth my plan for world domination, MWHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Pinky, start up the super computer!

I don't think you would be able to land a plane on a 2.5 acre island. Anyway it is bound to be too hilly a helicopter would be move appropriate - or a flying boat (do they still make them?).

I wonder why this man bothered, and what does he do all day on his little island?

In a declaration on his Web site, Stuart Hill, who owns the 2.5 acre island of Forvik in the Shetland Islands in the North Sea, said he no longer recognised the authority of the government or the European Union, and cited a centuries-old royal marriage dowry deal as the basis for his claim.

IT'S STUART, GET HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

and yes you can land a plane on 2.5 acres, i fly small single engine planes, and soon to be multiengine, only fits about 15.  normal landing strips for aircraft that big are only a 100 meters.
