if you want something very downbeat but not completely fucking horrid i'd suggest looking up the Requiem for a Dream soundtrack by the Kronos Quartet, listen to all the overtures (Summer, Winter and Hope) the theme is brilliant and haunting, all while maintaining a musical depth that you lose with so of that techno emo crap.

And while you're looking for music that isn't crap - Do yourself a favor and listen to "Summertime" by Billy Stewart

Within Temptation isn't really Emo to be fair; and I'm not emo I just like Emo music, I love linkin park, but I thought this song made more since with the video.
