It seems like all the nubs seem to play as allies and a lot of the better players play as Axis. Is there a reason for this. Which side is easier to play? Personally...sometimes it really seems like the Allies are the hardest to play because the Axis get more heavy hitters but the allies can upgrade before they get to vet unlike the Axis.

Personally, I prefer the allies as i find it difficult to play as axis (i've gotten rolled everytime I try) and then there's my sense of patriotism because the allies are basically the US...then again, I dont think i could play as the french...or the russians (although it'd be cool to play as russians/soviets!) any thoughts?

Because Allies in vCOH is very noob friendly. So they come to eir, play allies, lose, switch to axis, play with the really good players, get good with axis (or so they think) and play axis.

Allies are a more general/have-a-go/mix type of Army to play but hard to master, most of their units are multi role and when combined are vicious but alone get raped six ways to sunday.

Axis are more niche based, specific units to specific playstyles and roles in battles, even the most basic infantry all the way up to Tigers and King Tigers and if combined are near unstoppable.

So, my own tuppence is - people start as Allies because of VCoH, have a try on here, then head over to Axis and build up with more experienced players and join in the steamroller and not move back making Allies more and more outgunned by number of players [ not neccessarily quality ]

Axis offers more variety.
What I experienced myself: You get bored.
As Airborne (worst exsample)  You will most likely have lots of airborne, other doctrines use riflespam.
As axis you even have 2 base infantry. And KCH without doctrine abilities.
As Allies you get the standard tank, the fast tank hunter and the AI tank (croc), as axis a better standard tank (P4), a more versaitle AI tank (Ostwind) and a hardhitting and fast Tank Destroyer (Panther).
It's easier to achieve vet with stronger units, they will survie more often even if your firepower is lower.
How many M10s make it to the leaderboard?
How many Panthers do?
Axis are more specialized in any situation, even the allies HMG is by far inferior to the axis equivalent in supression power, but in turn can hold it's own against vehicles with an upgrade.
Axis are more fun to play over time because of OMG of doom units that satisfy the players ego and because they offer more variety, hmm, last time volks spam, now I try upgraded grens.
For Allies it's still riflespam.
It just gets boring, as you always spam.

It used to seem that most noobs tend to head to allies to me, but lately I think it has been more balanced. Maybe just a spike in the usual trend and noobs will resume starting as allies Cheesy. Anyway, allied tactics favor noobs very much. Allies tactics rely heavily on artillery, bumrushing, and spamming. They are things that anyone can do, so it tends to make them more noob friendly. Axis requite a bit more skill at a mid level of play, as they have very niche oriented units, instead of one unit you can just spam a ton of and still have a balanced force. Unless of course you are tenacious faith with a lot of RB's in munis. Then you might be able to get away with just grens. In the end game, however, Allies are just as good as axis. Axis have the units of doom, it is true. Vet 3 KT and vet 3 KCH are very tough, but allies gets the same thing, just in doctrine abilities. Raid Assault AB, Tank Reaper ATG, and though I have never seen a Next Gen Pershing, I'm sure its awesome as I use an Onboard Pershing and it is great. Allies still have WTFDoom units, they just have to be used with doctrine stuff, and then allies become niche oriented aswell.

What this means is an organized team of allies works better than an organized team of axis, but without planned out roles for each player, Axis will tend to win.

Hmm...I don't know if this has to do with the thread...w/e

eh good thoughts. I played with a good tank and ab player and we did very well first a terror/def/blitz player on a 3v3. We lost because they lost control of the left side of the map  but yeah allies = d@ bl0b. I'm a sorta mix player though, i like to have rifles and rangers w/ an artillery and an m10 for at support. maybe a coupe of mortars. i haven't used snipers lately much though.

I play Allies because with Axis its too easy for me to win a game, and its so boring. I play allies also because of the varity it has. Don't get me wrong, but I love how they have a real speciality units for each doctrine, that does its job.
Pershing-AntiArmor&AntiInfantry&AntiBuilding
Rangers-AntiArmor&AntiBuilding
Airbourne-AntiArmor&AntiInfantry

Axis on the other hand has these speciality units.
StormTroopers-AntiInfantry&AntiBuilding&AntiTank&Camoflauge
Officer-AntiInfantry&Infantry Support
Flak88-AntiInfantry&AntiTank&AntiAir&Antibuilding
Tiger-AntiEverything but is easily destroyed by overwhelming numbers and 57mm
KingTiger-Same as Tiger though is easily overwhelmed.

Allies is more of a speciality doctrine type. Axis are more of an all around type.

Allies is more of a speciality doctrine type.

Riflemen aren't really specialized in anything unless given the proper upgrades

I love Riflemen. They're a lot more dangerous than any infantry on axis once upgrades because

1. you get 6 for 5
2. bar can suppress
3. only at weapon that you can't see

i have specially made riflesquads for at service now and others for assault, etc. depending on what i'm doing. If i'm attacking it's nice to have a BAR squad or two, defending stickies rules (either on O or D actaully) sure Chrekers are great but you can tell what they are, with rifles once u use a sticky the axis run from every rifle squad you've got lol
