Ok, today I am starting on "A nation of Sheep" by Judge Andrew Napolitano.  Its about the Bush administration and its stripping of liberties for a little safety.  Looks to be a good read.

I was wondering what else was out there, from all over, about politics and history that would be a good read in my quest for understanding and of creating my own opinions on a new political system.  I am also going to pick up Alexis-Charles-Henri Clérel de Tocqueville, which I am looking forward too.

The classics are a great read even though they may be big. But don't let that scare you or shift your views on em. Give them a chance. I know I enjoyed Doestoyevsky, Dumas, and Shakespeare. Plus if you're looking for some authors from today I recommend Jeff Shaara. He's a great author and he specializes in WWI and WWII. Another one I recommend is Die Wacht Am Rhein. Theres 2 versions out. The first one which is also made into a great movie is really great. The second one by another author whose name escapes my wrath at the moment isn't so bad but it's probably something you wouldn't spend money on. It's about aliens invading earth eating people to feed themselves and in the rush to "rejuvenate" the Whermact(which is now knows as the Bundeswher) they call on old soldiers and somehow make them young again. It follows the SS Panzer Division. Very strange book. Don't wanna spoil alot if anything at all. If you think you're interested just give it a read for a chapter or so and decide for yourself. I could go on all day haha but I'm pretty sure someone else would complain about my block texts. So EXPLORE!!!!

I can't really think of anything as I tend to like fiction...

Personally, one of the best things to do is get a book that accounts stories of political people and isn't just written about one guy because you'll be ablet o see how different people worked.

there was one interesting book i just saw in the library calle "Heroes" and it detailed people all the way from julius ceasar to churchhill, i may get it next time, but for now I'm going to "read" to "The War" by Ken Burns on audiobook

Bret Easton Ellis' 'American Psycho' is a great one if you want some twisted social commentary. I can't recommend that one enough. And 'What's the Matter with Kansas?' by Thomas Frank is really good as well. It explores the reasoning of those people (Kansas specifically, but blue collar workers in general) who vote against their own economic best interests.

If by some chance you havn't read it yet, read 'Animal Farm'. I knocked that one out in like 4 hours. It's an obscenely good book.

Yep, Animal farm is a good one, only about half an inch think in some editions.

Read the Communist Manifesto if you get a chance, even if you aren't a communist, it still provides deep insights into... stuff, and as being over 70 years older than the author when he died, it's copyright free, which means web versions exist for free.

Try Panzer Leader by Von Mellenthin. Fucking insane. This guy served in all European theatres of war. He was Rommel's cheif of staff, and served under Guderian. Great read.

Science Fiction:
Starship Troopers by Robert A. Heinlein is great.
Dune series by Frank Herbet are a must for any Sci-Fi fans

Anything by John Steinbeck is absolute genius, but you have to like cultural themes.

I am looking more for political science books.  I wish to understand the basic concepts of the systems of government employed by the citizens of not only the US, but of Europe and most civilized states of the world.

Encyclopedias are really good or that, actually. In order to understand that kind of stuff you need to study history no matter what.

Its not easy trying to understand a different culture, especially when its values are in direct oppositions to the ones you might have.

Answer me this then, do you think that "natural law" is inherent in all cultures no matter the value system that they may hold?

Well man is able to shape nature and create his own world, with his actions. He molds the psysical world and creates it to his own needs.
No other creature can do that. So i would say ethical and cultural values are more important to a society.

If you're interested in political books, I suggest "The Camel Club" from David Baldacci. It shows what can happen in a near future when the US continues to develop into a surveillance state. The most thrilling book I have ever read.

If you like Fantasy then I would suggest "The Dark Tower" from Stephen King. Starting with "The Gunslinger", it is certainly not what you expect from King, and in my oppinion among his best.

People who are into fiction have to read "Eisenhorn" from Dan Abnett. A bombastic story about an Inquisitor in the Warhammer 40.000 universe, that makes it seem real.

For gamers in general, "Otherland" by Tad Williams is a must. A diverse, true epos about the future of computer gaming and so many countless other things.

If you want to understand how the universe works, check out "A Brief History of Time" and "The Universe in a Nutshell" by Stephen Hawking.

My personal favourite though is the history novel "The Physian" from Noah Gordon. It gives you a vivid image of the middle ages and tells a unique life story.

Natural Law, is not the law of nature, it in fact is the rights held by all people that only go as far as another persons.  This term exemplifies the concept easily, "my rights end at the other person's nose."

Then natural doesnt fit there, cause thats not natural law. Thats like social, political or ethical rule/norm whatever.

But then again the term "natural Law" is fairly loose it could mean the law of the world, the way things work, the system upon which people have created for themselves, or a system that they have been incorporated without acknowledgement. Crono i like your little mind fucks and stuff but this one's kinda vague if you clarify a little more i could give a better opinion. AND NOTE OPINION SO DON'T FLAME ME!!
