What really happened:

The devs realized the war wasn't fair because the allies didn't have enough territory.
So they threw in America for an extra 2000 and japan for and extra 1000.

Expect to see more kamikaze axis in the future.

No, that would be 2.0. I would say the Axis gained control of mainland Europe and America has been pushed back to the shores of France or to their own coast perhaps.
