My old hard drive is dead, so i had a 500 GB SATA drive siting around (new in box). I tried to get it up and running but it reads that windows can't find it. If I can get windows able to find the hard drive then k can do the rest.

I have a 500 GB SATA WD Caviar GP (Western Digital)

Motherboard: ASUS A8N-SLI Permium
CPU: AMD 64x2 4800+
Geforce:7900GS
2GB Ram

maybe the cable is defective? Can your BIOS see the HD on startup?
