Any thoughts on this build. Just a theoretical build I had done. Going for a combination between Gaming performance and price. I think I remebered everything for it. The case comes with a 500w power supply and I have no idea if that is enough. How would I know how much I would need? If anything check out the case, it is an amazing case.

Splurge the extra $25 and get a G92 based 8800GTS, the 512MB version. Performs 5% within the range of the 9800GTX.

I wouldn´t buy a psu so cheap for that pc.

and a hd 4850 It´s the best choice right now, 200 bucks and outperforms a 9800gtx with filters.

but isn't a psu a psu? As long as it has enough power it will work right?

I'm not interested now in a new computer but probably next summer I will make one and I just want to get an idea of what I'll be buying.

No, there are goods psu´s and bad psu´s... just google a little about it and you will find a lot of info.

By the end of the year there will be a lot of new stuff.... there´s no point to waste time building a possible set up right now.

Killer, you can say that about every year, so there is no point in that argument.

Ok, Bodybag, your PSU is fine. I have a 500 Watt, and I run an 8800GTS and a 125w CPU. It runs all of my games with everything on the highest settings on 1280x1024. Only $170.

I might be able to build a new computer soon, what type and how much power would a PSU need for dual 9800's and at least 4GBs of RAM?

Amount of RAM makes little difference. For Dual 9800GTXs, you'd also want a good processor, so I'd get atleast a 700w.

The other problem is that at 4gb of RAM you need a 64bit OS....sucks for gaming.

9800GTX tends to crash whenever Anti-alliasing is turned on.
Either you go for the 8800 GTS/GTX or for an ati 4870x2.
SLI is also overrated, you pay double(to get two cards) for a really doubtfull increase in performance(reports have been of CoH actually running WORSE with dual 88s than with a single one), so stick to a single video card.
2-3 GBs should be quite enough of RAM for you.
The CPU is good.

By the way, RAM does make a difference...

So I'd need DDR3 RAM for 3GBs?  And I looked into it a little bit, I'm only getting one 9800.

Is there a reason you're going with the kentfield?  Quadcore is one of those things that sounds spectacular (Hey, its twice as many cores as a dual-core!) but in reality hardly anything supports it - if this is a dedicated gaming rig for the "now" as opposed to one you're desperate to future proof, I'd suggest you just go with the 45nm dual core line from intel... their wolfdale chips have my seal of approval and make CoH very happy Smiley

Well getting a dual core will only be better in the short run, as Quad Cores are still really big bad beasts and getting them is not bad.
the number after the DDR means which series of DDR it is. DDR2 will work with 3 gigs just as well as DDR3.
Between the series, it's just their speed that differs, and currently, DDR2 800 MHz is your best bet for performance/cost.
9800 is a good card, just do NOT turn on AA, or your computer will/might crash with stock drivers.

Quad Core is a waste of money, sure you get the ability to say "I have a quad core" but as a practical item, nothing uses it.

I lolled. Doubtful increase? Dude, it runs the first video card at 100%, and if you get a good mobo, the other one at about 80%.

Is it necessary? No. However, you can brag about running the highest on Crysis on DX10 with like 80 FPS.
