Apache is a helicopter or?
So you come into a thread about a ww2 tank and tell us that a battle helicopter can beat any tank?
Alright....
As for Tanks, currently
Leopard > all other tanks that are being massproduced and are not in a testing / prototype stage.

It depends what version of Leopard (u should add Lepoard II), and it depends on training, tactic. Remeber tank doesn't shoot itself it has men inside. And basicly in all modern tank battles win that side what spot enemy faster, and have better intelligence.

The challenger 2 of the british army has only ever been destroyed once, and thats was a firendly fire incident from another challenger 2.
2 others have been damaged.
I think its gotta be close to the leopard 2A5 in combat strength.

RAddish, the challanger 2 has 2x 200 liter oil tanks on the OUTSIDE of its hull, how can that be a good tank? The fact that it has a build in tea cooker (loooooooooooooooooool) does not make it a better tank.
Also it seems to have a very weak spot at the downside of the front armor since on both "damaged" tanks the driver(´s) lost part of there foot to simple IED´s.
Also it did not see enough combat to make "only" 3 loses anything special. If they never fight they will ofcourse not be damaged.
Also it a direct test of the challanger vs the leopard;
BAE announced in 2005 that development and export marketing of 2E would stop. This has been linked by the media to the failure of the 2E to be selected for the Hellenic Army in 2002, a competition won by the Leopard 2.[14]

Isn't the newest version the A6?
Well, and in future the PSO, sure.
I think tanks will only have rudimentary use in the future as main fighting vehicles.
What did this thread actually start with, and why does it always end like this?

It started with pershings (a tank), someone derailed it to apache (a helicopter) and I rerailed it towards tanks.

Haha sorry guess this my fault. Anyway What's this PSO? (I did mention the A6)
If I remember correctly the US are planing to abandon the MBT anyway to opt for a more mobile and versatile IFV/APC approach due to changing "Tactical situation", which I guess is probably a step in the right direction as IFV/APC can be designed to accommodate anti-tank capabilities.
Its just too expensive to haul a 60 ton tank half way around the world to fight an enemy that doesn't have the equipment its designed to fight.
It would be nice to see a war game where the M1, Leopard 2 A6, Challenger 2 and leclare (The French one) had to face each other.

Israel's Merkava Mark IV serves its purpose well.
But the Russian Black Eagle fitted with the 152mm Gun although still prototype, it is better then any other tank In the world If I do say so myself.

Why do you say that? The M1A2 is fitted with an inferior version of the 120mm gun of the Leopard 2 A6
And by game I mean actual tank platoons with infantry in a real life exercise.

The US is adapting the Striker to become a truly mechanized force, including a version in service now mounted with the same 120mm platform and fire control that the M1a Abraham's uses, as well as an experimental 160 mm rail gun mortar platform.
The Apache is so invisible that it is freakish, I had a friend in Desert Storm, the 1990 Iraq campaign who had 4 Apaches come up behind his tanks ( he was a tank commander) and they were 40 feet away before he noticed them. He told me he almost shit his pants literally.
also Comanche> Apache
I went fishing in May, near the the plant where Apaches and Comanches are made, when I was leaving there was a Comanche hovering over some power lines right beside the road. When we drove under it I couldn't here it, and they incorporate stealth technology and have no heat signature due to coolants added to the exhaust . They can carry the same load out that Apaches can and some that the Apaches cant, with a higher top speed and a longer range. They are truly fearsome.

The Americans are fitted with the same barrel made by the same plant with a superior fire control system.

i thought production of the Comanche was discontinued.
Yup, here's the link
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAH-66_Comanche
Quote
The Boeing/Sikorsky RAH-66 Comanche was an advanced U.S. Army military helicopter intended for the armed reconnaissance role, incorporating stealth techniques. Also, it was to designate targets for the AH-64 Apache.[2] The RAH-66 program was canceled in 2004 before it was fielded.
Too bad, the helicopter was so freakin sweet...
anyone ever play a helicopter game called long bow? You got to fly all kinds of helicopters and eventually you got to the comanche and it was nearly impossible to lock onto it. Only thing you had to watch out for was AA arty, missiles couldn't lock on at all.

Americans ar ethe only ones with lots of tank experience.
Our hardware rarely fails when compared to the euro tanks' auto reloading system.
For the others talking about the russian tanks, a 156mm barrel = shorter range. Therefore, m1 wins.
Our armor is superior to any other armor.
For a tank to be stronger, it must be slower, therefore m1 wins.
