is it possible to somehow attach the maps into the launcher, like you have to download them in order to play so that people will quit whining and bitching about people not having maps

Possibly, but I can recall phill saying that would mean they all would have to be hosted on the EIR webspace which would be big bandwidth drain...  So not right away, although perhaps some finalised and popular EIR maps should be included in the map download...

There must be some reason why they continue to get the most play...

Only way I'll get people to stop playing them is probably by putting your face in the loading screen Smiley.

As a half-way solution you could have the launcher look in the person's EiR directory to see what maps they have and then refer them to filefront if they are missing things.

This would require the launcher to have a set of filenames and files sizes to check against which would add some micromanagement for the devs.

how about an update to the launcher where you choose the map you want to play before hand and if the person doesnt have it, they get something saying you need to download such n suc11h map.

also, what does this is enable people to choose a map before the game starts and things would go much faster. Also, if u dont like a certain map, you dont have to join.
