okay, some tank gunny stuff.. just observations from reading COH-Stats.. curious on a few things..

Mark4, Stug, Mardar, Hetzer all basically use the same gun, the kwk42 75mm..  stug,mark4 have 87.5 penetration and damage?  why is the mardar at 150?Huh  couldnt find what the hetzer was at..

Puma and pak38 are "Basically" the same gun, but pak is 115 damage\Pen while puma is 67.5?HuhHuh

Panthers 75L70 is 137.5 dam\pen, and the 17pdr is 125, bit too low in my eyes.. but, why is the american 3inch on m10 115 and the sherman 76mm is only 87.5?Huh? not exactly the same, but in penetration numbers they extremely close...

not a rant, or complain, just curious on these numbers thats all..

Game balance of couse.  Why can an AT gun's gun shield deflect tank shots?

The difference between armour penetration of those guns in real life is different also. It all depends on the muzzle velocity and energy of the projectile, which is affected by barrel length, projectile shape and size of projectile charge. The M10 fires specific anti-tankammunition for example, whereas the Sherman is a multi-task weapon.

well iam trying to figure out if getting 76mm on the sherm is really worth it, the 76mm on the sherm upgrade should in my eyes be performing in the area of the m10s gun, the 76mm was built as a anti tank gun to replace the multi purpose more inft support gun of the 75mm..   if somebody could give me real numbers from this game with the difference of the sherms 75 and 76 that would help.. if its not really making it more useful maybe down the mun cost on it..

also, the big difference between stug, and marder 75mm makes no since..

Why not? they used different guns, with different calibres, different barrel lengths and different ammunition, why should they be nearly identical?

In any case, the Stug was armed with a 7.5cm (48 calibre length) gun, the Marder II with a 7.62 (48.4 calibres long), so not the same gun, in the same way the Sherman 75mm and 76mm were different guns.

so why dont the 76mm upgun sherman get a nice buff over the 75mm sherman? when in reality the 76mm gun performed alot better than the 75mm sherman gun.. but the marders gun didnt over the stugs.. hmmmmmmmm

oh and which marder is in game? I, II, or III?    it doesnt really matter thou, as there is a minute difference in performance between the 75mm and 76.2 used in the marders.

It's a Marder III, but comparing it to 'reality' is just a waste.

Because this is a game, it's not realistic, etc.

As for the Sherman upgun, some players love it, some players hate it.

Try COH-Stats.

Google it, and it will supply you with more stats info than you could ever want.

any developers answer this correctly? what is the penetration and damage values of the 76mm of the sherman?  i think is pretty low, which imho should be around the m10s 3inch numbers.

thank you.

76mm has higher penetration, less splash and a higher reload time.

If you want to attack armour with a sherman get the 76mm upgrade, it makes you able to tackle armour easier but less able to tackle infantry, it's a trade off.
