Feb. 19, today is DoW II's USA release date.

Anyone have a chance to play the full game yet?

THQ pushed for an early Steam release and got it. Apparently, Steam's servers were overloaded and I decided to hold off on buying it until I could get a boxed copy.

Can't wait, though! I loved the beta.

SP is pretty meh, story is good imo, along with all the cutscreens and dialog they have, but there are 2 types of missions that arent story missions and even then they pretty meh.

And the multiplayer never grabbed me like CoH did on the beta, got the first hall of fame on GR for dow2 so i left my mark Cool

As the game goes on your popcap starts to fill up with "ghost" units that you've lost. It means that as you lose squads/units, the popcap doesn't decrease properly.

Got some more specific info on the DoW2 forums.  Apparently, the last member of a squad you reinforce perminately costs double popcap.  For a tac squad, that's an extra 5 popcap.  For a slugga squad, that's an extra 2 popcap.  Relic is trying to work up a data fix/band-aid so the problem can at least be mitigated in a matter of hours while having to wait a couple weeks for a complete fix with the first entirely post-retail patch (which needs to pass MS certification and such, which costs them a couple weeks)

Actually no. You are completely wrong. Patches don't need MS certification, only DLC.

you'd think this would be an easy one to find out while testing

Dafuq man, don't ask for proof if you'll refuse it if it's not in your favor, logic fallacy for the bloody win.

It got old pretty fast for me...  I just didn't feel connected to the units as I did in COH.  Not sure why.

Yes, this.  Also it felt more sluggish and clunky than CoH.

CoH is imo more tactic gameplay than Dow2 Due in DoW2 you can´t at start use so much of tactic

Its like playing CoH where you can only get snipers at teir 4...

This issue seems to have already been fixed in the most recent build, but we'll need to come up with a data-based solution to get it out without going back through GFWL cert.

It's a permanent cost with the bug, it's basically the equivalent of stealing the popcap from you. The only ways to avoid having this happen to you are to either not ever reinforce your squad to full, or sacrifice your squads for the emperor.

The correct fix is definitely a code fix, and it has already been made. For the time being we're investigating whether or not we can patch something in on the data side -- we can't outright fix it in data but we can perhaps come up with a "better bug" than what's currently out there.

I've been watching the info, Akranadas.  I'm pretty sure you're wrong.

To those who are finding issue with DoWII, I must say that it's an acquired taste, but a very good one (like steamed lobsters!)

Have they fixed the thing with Windows Live disconnecting randomly?  I couldn't get a single game in the beta because of that, so I never really got to try it out.   Undecided

Need to recheck the patch notes, but I believe they did mitigate the problem.

Are you using Vista 32bit, by chance?

The popcap bug was fixed on release day.

I've played quite a bit of DOWII now since the beta and release. I've played 45 missions in the single player campaign and I'm not done with it... which they did a magnificent job on it. Not only that though, the campaign is optional as co-op which is nice in theory, but i'm a lone wolf kind of player anyhow.

There's been good changes to the matchmaking system in the multiplayer, they fixed Trueskill sucking(for the most part).

Overall.. the game is really shaping up to be a good one. Now they just need to bring 2v2s into it.

It was?  I haven't seen Relic post a solution yet.
