I am not sure I am gona buy it, its doing the Same thing over and over again, Buy MG, Buy MG Build up base, Buy Anti tank, get tank, push and win and game over
Eh? As Orks in beta I *never* used the tank. They were too fragile for my tastes. Heck, I rarely used the Deff Dread either. All ork infantry, all the way! But how is what you said much different than a game of vCoH?

Data patches do not need certification, code patches do.
So smaller things, including balance changes can go straight through.
Bigger code changes have to be cert'd by Microsoft so make sure it doesn't "Endanger" their system.

Thanks for clarifying Lionel, I was hoping the dev quotes would do the talking but I guess not.
As for armor in DoW II, I find them to be CoH tanks on steroids. They're even more comparatively fragile, but they do even more damage to enemy infantry. Definitely support units, but effective at that with good management. That said, walkers are another matter entirely

This made me lol.
(They are more of a danger to themselves.) Shhhhh, don't tell anyone.
- Microsoft has edited this to insure our good name is kept.
-Bill Gates, ftw
On topic: I was thinking about trying DoW, does it have similar playstyle as CoH?

Somewhat.. minus base building. The games certainly take a lot less time. But Imho they need to tuned down the victory point counter.
But even if the Multiplayer isn't one's flavor.. the single player campaign is epic.. I'd be willing to say best campaign i've ever played.

How many games have you played? Seriously DoW2's singleplayer experience is extremely shitty and small. There are only five maps and on every single one you just do the same objectives, it is the most repetitive singleplayer campaigns ever.
The game pissed me off when Windows Live turned up, then the campaign was extremely repetitive, then the multiplayer was ruined by the fact the game is not a strategy game and so victory in a fight comes randomly.
It feels like a demo, the game is just extremely small.

I read that DoW II campaign is total shit. You ever played vCoH campaign?
And the windows live that's fucking joke...
I uninstaled beta after 10 mins of playing it, it was like mod for vCoH but compared to CoH it's total shit.

Reading means nothing until you actually play it yourself. I had a lot of fun with the campaign, especially on Primarch difficulty.

Primarch is like playing with an Army of Engineers against hordes of KCH.

I've played through the entire campaign. And yes on Normal it's a joke.. but on Primarch(which is the highest difficulty) it's pretty damn good.
I've played over 150 hours in the beta. And I've played 45 so far in release. I've got issues similar issues with the Multiplayer process, but the game really isn't as bad as you two COH fanboys make it out to be.
I'd much rather Relic use Windows Live than pay EA for server hosting. And if you actually get past that upset.. then you'd know that DOW II is the first mainstream game on Windows Live and it's going to be a development process for both parties.
And of course I've played vCoH campaign... but frankly it isn't the least bit as challenging. Now don't get me wrong.. I love EIR:R it's the most fun I have when I'm playing a game. But it's not competitive and Starcraft 2 isn't out yet so DoW II is the closest thing I have to filling some of that void in competitive play.

coh's campaign was nowhere near as repetative as DoW2's that puts me right off, there are 2 missiosn types, run through the map and kill X or stay and defend Y. Some of teh main story missions are different but it doesnt make up for it except the last mission, and gets worse the higher difficulty its one.

It's hardly that repetitive... you do know they patched it to make it less repetitive... and did that on purpose to stop pirates right? So if you're playing a highly repetitive version, then you're not playing the right one. :p

DoW's campaign is no more repetitive than any other RTS (with the exception of the re-use of maps...they really should have had at least one more map or so per world).
Build up your base, slowly whittle down the enemy base.
There. That's the campaign of just about every RTS ever, with a few exceptions (Defend for X minutes or potentially a sneaky mission).
I really enjoyed the single player (played through it on Captain), I just wish we had campaigns for other races NOW.

Besides the campaign being repetitive and the skill-less gameplay in multiplayer, I do not want Windows live and Steam on my computer. There is a cracked version on Pirate bay without the needless marketing bullshit if anyone is still interested in trying the demo.

Skill-less multiplayer? Sigh...
And what's wrong with Steam? Hell...I keep it running constantly now and buy quite a few games through it.

lol me and vanilla fanboy, don't insult me ;-).
I bought all older versions of DoW (except shitty soulstorm). And IMO they are way better then this mod on vCoH engine.

A lot of the vanilla "purists" just wanted DoW 1.5. Meh...and then you turn around and call DOW2 a mod? A lot of people just wanted CoH in space and are mad they didn't get that.

I'm actually surprised by the comments, because DOW2 is closer to EIR than it is to vCOH
