Mukip, Khorney and Victor Target vs Misten, Von Brummels and Coolinho.  3 Brits vs 2 PE and Wehr.

I've been giving commando support weapons a go for the last few matches and found them reasonably worthwhile.  Having a mobile mortar as Brits along with the addition of a vanilla 25 pounder has really started to help me out.  There were some epic arty shots in this match.  I think we coordinated our call-ins pretty well so we had a well balanced force throughout, whereas often Brit teams are lacking something crucial and get punished for it.

This game really illustrated the fact that brits need to be buffed badly. The most effective artillery was a commando mortar, and literally the only thing which saved them from early defeat was a combination of command-vetted firefly with massed sapper spam and extreme axis caution.

Until brits get buffed, the firefly will remain the center of the brit strategy. I knew this would happen as soon as I saw the pathetic state of brit emplacements.

Funny, I think the british bren blob is the worst thing to happen. Forget Fireflys, brens + 57mms or cromwells are combinations to hate.

From games I've been a part of (either playing with or against, never as), the British do much better by revolving around their Button ability to win tank battles.  Its really brutal and almost feels OP if done right.  I had a Panther get caught alone by a couple Bren squads and a couple piats, and I didn't stand a chance.  Couldn't even escape.

Otherwise, I think they need a more cautious advancing approach with their emplacements, and not over-rely on Fireflies, or else they lack the armored staying power to fight long term.  Certainly no British Battalion should be without 1 Firefly, but I think 2 straps your fuel a bit too much.

A couple of rifle grenade squads, particularly on certain maps where there is alot of blocking terrain can also be very effective against all sorts of targets.

I used to think that Brits were weak, until seeing them in the hands of a skilled player (and not just skilled in general, but specifically with Brits).  I've had some really good games with and against them.  I don't personally do very well playing as them, but I now recognize that it is very possible.  Although they may not be as weak as I (and many of you) once thought, they require a different (and much more difficult) method and tactics to play them successfully.

I disagree, Scrap.  EiR simply demands that the standard brit doomfort become an obsolete memory. Leapfrogging emplacements runs you out of command very quickly.

I feel that I perform rather well, and have about as many wins as I have losses, but I don't use any more emplacements than a single bofors.  And that is for properly 'greeting' the falls or light armor that wishes to skirt past my line or consolidate gains while my forces continue to push.

Also, Fireflies are -wonderful- for tank battles.  They can stay in just as well as any sherman, but they have an extremely long range, and do amazing amounts of damage.  You just have to play around on the edges and knock out targets of opportunity, instead of rushing straight in as if it were a panther, because it's NOT.  Allied armor doesn't play the heavy armor game.
