Bad behavior

Lately, and I don't know if it is related to the influx of so many players since the release of EiR:R, or simply a side effect of this being an internet community - and the fact that there are limited repercussions for behaving this way. We have so many children trying to act like men, and total anonymity is one of the easiest forms of bravery.
But I have had happen to me, or witnessed others being various flavors of rude on numerous occasions. People throw around words like "nigger", "faggot" without any refrain at all, people are quick to accuse others of outright cheating with no actual proof - or incorrect proof.
Its been obvious that people are regularly dropping out of games to avoid giving up wins (out of my 13 draws alone, possibly all of them were my team winning when the game mysteriously decynchs as a player on the opposing team drops out). I've already had 1 opponent admit he did it intentionally, supposedly because my teammate was lagging. Just a coincidence that we were winning, I guess.
I've had someone insulting one of my teammates (who I consider a friend) when he was not around, I've had people spamming me with Vent PMs, harassing me in chat - after I'd already put them on ignore.
I've had people taunting my team in-game, and had, and seen players gloating and taunting other players in vent, or through their comments after games. I've apologized to an opponent for dropping out of a game (that my team was winning, btw), and been insulted and mocked for it.
We've all seen, and many of us have been poor losers after games are over. Its comforting to make an excuse that this or that tactic, or unit, is OP, or broken. We've all swore and used profanity for the most part. I'm not innocent on those specific counts myself, even though it really is being a poor sport as well.
But there is a tremendous difference between swearing in general, and swearing
at
someone. There is a tremendous difference is the choice of words used. Some are seriously off limits. There is a tremendous difference between being a poor winner and a poor loser. There is tremendous difference between avoiding or ignoring someone and going out of your way to insult them or slander them to others. There is a tremendous difference between
starting
a fight and participating in one. There is tremendous difference between not apologizing, and not accepting someone's apology.
Now personally, I've seen that it is generally the same handful of people that are behaving this way, on a consistent basis, and not just with me, but with others as well.
Then we have the recent vent DoS attacks, and for me it is hard to not have suspicion based on this other behavior I've seen. Because its really the same sort of sheer disrespect for others in the end.
This really needs to stop, and I have every confidence that the DEVs are well aware of it already, and will do the right thing to make sure that it does not continue. It would not surprise me if some examples are made. And instead of blaming Akranadas for being impartial, try blaming yourself for starting shit with people in the first place.

Excellent post, well thought out. The is defiantly a lack of repercussions for bad behaviour around here that really does need taking a look at.
Perhaps an individual should be recruited to enforce vent related rules and the disputes that take place around here. As opposed to expecting Akranadas to do everything. (And maybe Kolath too, not sure how to spell your name sorry.)

As far as people talking shit, eh, it doesn't bother me.
I figure it like this, if you can't say something to someone straight up, your opinion doesn't matter.
Then again, I can be a little to straight with people sometimes (EIRMod for instance) on what I think.
Good post Scrap, tonight we'll run over some more allies!

I am fully aware of this, and I encourage anyone who is abused to seek me out and tell me who said it and what was said. I already have a list of individuals who are on their last warnings, and will not hesitate to have them permanently removed from our game if it ensures a better, more polite community in the future.
Remember, just saying X player did this to me doesn't cut it I'm afraid; I need proof (recordings, screen caps, replays) to back up my decisions.

We are serious about enforcing this, and I am sure you all want to be able to have your balance thought considered by the development team with some biased, sensationalist coming into your thread and ruining it.

I don't remember the circumstances, but I tend to get impatient with people not in the game who come into the channel (and talk) while a game is on. You have to admit that is somewhat inconsiderate in the first place, although I apologize if I said anything offensive to you.

Impatience is relative to the nature of the urgency to communicate.
I have people (ok, mostly just AMPM
) talking over me in vent all the time. Nothing I need to say is so pressing that I can't wait until they are done speaking. But while playing a game, when you need to communicate with your teammates, "shut the fuck up, theres a game here" properly communicates the urgency of the moment.
Again, did not mean anything personal by it, just wanted the channel clear. Although if I was in Chateau, or a non-game channel, I would have been 100% wrong.

For game draws, they need to be tweaked a little because some players such as myself leave when they know there team is going to lose and than it leads to a dropout of EVERYONE and someone gets yelled at for it. and i dont blame anyone.

I Dont believe, this rant about bad behavior is one of the best ways in explaining why im dealing with thousands of players everyday not just on CoH, but XBL, or when my friends are over. Kudos to you.

Something cool would be if win/loss was done in favour of the people who didn't drop. If you drop, accidental or not you lose. I think that works better than a draw.

Well if you drop out and no one else does, if the game played on you would lose and dropping is usually to avoid a loss.

Yeah I could not agree with you more. The occasional loss when a legitimate d/c happens is a lesser evil than a situation people can, and will abuse when wins and losses actually matter.
