I just played with Version 2.0, you may have packed the wrong stug skin in...  The one thats there is kinda brown and pokadotted not the cool green with mesh side skirts like the picture shows.

Well, firstly, there is no green stug in the screenshot. Secondly, I will look into the stug thing.

Anybody got any replays with a stug in it?

Yeah I think I may have swapped the stuh and the stug by mistake, but I don't have any way to test it outside of getting a stug and at the moment I don't have the time for that - mind getting me a replay w/ a stug? I'll see which skin it is, and then fix it.

Alright, you guys are right, that is the wrong skin (both aren't supposed to have that skin). I'll rummage around until I find it in my enormous disorganized folder of skins, until then I'll take down the screenshot as that's misinformation.

EDIT - Not sure where the stug went, but I added the new Panzer IV that somehow wasn't put in by mistake.

Mal, why are your skin packs so large in file size? Mine just about changes everything, yet is till under 80mb, even not compressed in a .rar file.

It contains very highly detailed textures - for instance a lot of the tanks have an extra file for the zimmerit paste look, new files to change the tank crews, et c.

I could probably strip it down to around 150 megabytes, but there is just a ton of space taken up by all the vehicles. For instance, the tiger's files alone take 3 megabytes. The panzer 4 is 2.5... add all those vehicles in the game up (17 wehrmacht, 15 american, 15 british, and 16 panzer elite) and we're talking even at 2 megabytes per vehicle a file size already over 120 megabytes. Granted, about five of those vehicles are planes or other vehicles you're never really likely to notice, but I figured I'd include them.

Another big problem is that as skins get more detailed they begin to include a plethora of files, like the zimmerit texture, that while they aren't enormous, are inefficiently stored. There's probably 5 to 10 megabytes of inefficient storage involved bolstering the size just that much more. Anyway, you're right, this release is a bit bloated (and I mucked up the stug), so I'll be trimming it down for re-release soon. Consider this a preview of v2.0, I suppose.

EDIT - You'll also note the original EIR skinpack is mising things like new skins for the Sherman, Stuh, all variants of Churchill, Priest, et c. Actually not having skins for some things cuts its file size down a LOT :p

I don't use the original EiR skin pack, I use my own with bits and pieces from everyone and it has new skins for every unit (besides British Tommies) and it's still under 80mb, they are all high quality skins too!

I checked personally and Falls are fine, I do not know about the Jagdpanther.

How DO you manage that? Can you give me an example of, say, the wehrmacht vehicle folder and its size? What vehicles it contains? How it's organized? (e.g. how many are listed under common texture as opposed to an individual folder...)

It could be some problem with your PC in terms of rendering the textures? They were fine on Tanteville when I used them, but I'll look into it.

New fixed up version 2.0 is up, censored version coming soon. Sorry about the rough patch, guys, but all skins should now display properly (except the StuG which I've unfortunately misplaced, sorry everyone! Sad) - I even added a brand new Bergetiger and the Panzer IV it was supposed to have all along (long barrel P4) which DOES have mesh side skirts and fall camo.

Keep in mind that although the file size is around 180 megabytes, Relic's own files for the exact same objects are 155 megabytes, so it's not much of an increase over default in terms of size! How Akranadas manages to keep it down to 80 megabytes probably involves black magic, so let's settle for normal compression Wink

Main post updated with the proper version.

Found out why yours is so big Mal, You have a lot of useless art files that EIR doesn't use. When you combined the Nazi mod with your skin pack; you left in a lot of files relating to vCoH.

Basically, Delete the entire UI folder. That should take a good bit of the file size with it. Don't worry; EIR doesn't use any of those files.

You can also delete Textures_fe if you want to, if you still want the nazi images appearing in the menu ect, just leave them but delete the folder called omg_campaign, as all it contains is high res images of medals, that EIR again; doesn't use.

In the models folder, delete enviroment; it all relates to the HQ buildings that are in vCoH, which don't appear in EIR. Delete gameplay too, as it's images for the capture points; again not used in EIR.

that should cut your file size down.

Yeah I tried removing a lot of that stuff, but I started getting some missing RGM file errors (y'know, blue box of doom) so I had to do a lot of trial and error. I deleted the medals once, but that error happened again... it was kind of odd, so I left it in there. In this latest release I think I managed to delete it without accidentally taking other stuff with it, though Wink

180 megabytes isn't that huge compared to Relic's original files (about 150 megabytes), but for subsequent releases I'll keep all that in mind (should take 10-15 megabytes off the filesize or so) Smiley
