Usually play as capitalist americans and dogmatic british because most WW2 games only let you play as them. But playing as germane germans in CoH and stoic grenadiers in Day of Defeat is cool too :>

Just don´t overdo it, you´re only calling it Nazi-Germany cos it makes it easyer, never heard imperial Germany, State Republic Germany or "Bunch o Scattert states that speak the same language but like to clob in each others heads".
It just pisses germans of if you call it Nazi Germany all the time (me too). Just seems to be like some people want to piss others off.

The Weimar Republic (Deutsches Reich) was replaced by a National Socialist fascist state, lead by the Nazi party. Then it became Nazi controlled Germany, or Nazi Germany.
It was Nazi Germany, just like it was Vichy France, the Soviet Union and Imperial Japan. After the war, these countries politics changed and so they go by these names in order to separate them from their current states.

You can then place it as British, since Australia was a British colony and they are somewhat on British side :p same with Canada Some people may find that offensive, in fact if you said it here in the wrong places you may end up collecting your teeth. Be that as it may, it doesn't make his logic right. Australians largely used the same equipment (edit: as the British) but were orders of magnitude more hardcore. Rommel wrote that if Germany had the ANZACs nothing could have stood against them. Edit2: Most people don't realise that in CoH when you put regular British troops in a trench, they actually become ANZACs, but with a completely unrealistic weakness to fire for understandable balance reasons. It is a little known fact that ANZACs were immune to suppression, didn't take damage from tanks or offmaps and regened faster than Rommel could damage them in Tobruk. ANZACs also have a Lietenant and Captain as part of the squad at the rank of Corporal and Lance Corporal. |

The ANZACs only true weakness was British officers. If a British Lieutenant comes within range of an ANZAC squad they will lose all their bonuses and be forced to advance into sighted machine guns in cover, up steep hills.

It's one thing if people refer to Germans today as Nazis. That's just someone being ignorant. It's an entirely different thing if you're talking about a historical conflict. We don't refer to the Confederate States of America as "just America." There's nothing historically immoral about calling 1936-45 Germany as "Nazi Germany." Saying that all Germans were Nazis then *would be* wrong, though. Edit: I can see why everyone always chooses the Axis...the Germans sure knew how to make uniforms and cool tanks... |

Germans are by far the sexiest faction. That being said, I like playing as the good ole Americans from time to time. Given a choice, only Nazi Germany.
In EiRR, forced to play allies most of the time because of nub players cramping up axis.
I think its a very simple fact that a small country that could win over so many countries and take an alliance the size of "half the world" so to speak... to defeat, is definitely something worth respect.
The appeal is not just the uniform and tanks, but the quality of officers, infantry training, morale, military doctrines, strategy etc.
