I have never giving up on the panther as a axis player, and i don't know why others have. With the high numbers of tanks the allied can have the panther is a good tank to have in the company.

I do think the panther is some what cost effetive. As being posted before by others the Panther is a tank killer, don't expect it do get 20+ inf kills. but if you can't get more than 2 tank kills with it you need to work on your game play.

I do support the price decrease on the panther. But not so much on the fuel, its the manpower need to be looked over. I do not see the need to compair the panther with the P4 as they do different jobs in my mind. the P4 is there to keep the infantry at bay and give some AT SUPPORT. It is just not cost EFFECTIVE to fight Shermens with the P4.

The Panther is more cost effective than Pz4 at fighting tanks, but the Pak38 is more cost effective at fighting tanks than the Panther. The main advantage of the Panther over the Pak38 is its mobility. But tanks that stray too far past the main battle line then get hit by opposing ATGs, so it's not often that you can make use of the Panther's mobility much unless you've already broken the enemy line. And given the cost of the Panther, it's less likely you'd send it on a suicide run to finish off a tank like you might with a Pz4, Stug, Sherman, Cromwell or M10. You might be able to do it very cost effectively in old EiR with conviction (+speed and RoF), but we don't have that T4 at the moment.

Similar issues with the Tiger I, Pershing and King Tiger at the moment, although they are able to hit infantry better, and have more health.

not taking to much dmg and kill of a tank is an art Cheesy but if u only get pak for AT were are u using the fuel? But on the other hand if everyone is saying the panther is bad then give me the decrease in price so i can back up my Panther with more stuff Cheesy Grin

AFAIK allied tanks often have more health compared to their counterparts which results in that a equally damaged sherman and p4 are not even in this point, and not many other either.

Directly comparing p4 and panther hp is silly.

The Panther's strength has always been its armor type.

A panther can defeat two shermans at once, so long as it uses its advantages of range front armor and heavy crush. and 2 shermans costs 50% more popcap than a panther. you could field a panther, a grenadier squad and a HMG for the pop cap of 2 shermans.

and how often are there 2 76mm shermans in the same place? if axis see 2 shermans in the same place, they will immediately rush PaKs and Shreks there.  even if shermans get an advantage over the panther they will have a tough time finishing the job.

for all of its vaunted penetration boost, a 76mm sherman still only has a 30% chance of penetrating a Panther from the front. This is low enough that 5% panthers can and have won against shermans and m10s in much better condition.

there might be a case for a panther price decrease, but the scenarios given arn't it.

i hate to be a one track record, but the Panther's biggest problem is probably that noone wants to take it over the TA Wink

***

Conviction, pfft. Conviction let panthers rack up 4-5 tank kills without dying. I really don't think that's the standard we should be measuring Panthers by. :p

Conviction let panthers destroy 5 shermans at once without being half-healthed, seriously nothing to abide by - if you want a panther to be like with conviction by default :O... ^^.
What Shoe said is right - the TA is a better choise over a panther...

Overall, I think a lot will change when doctrines, and especially off-maps will come out. RBs will help too. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like the average skill level has dropped for every single player(including the vets) when we have no off-maps or doctrines to worry about. Blobbing is the way to victory, etc. etc.
Frankly, it's become vCoH with callins, in terms of skill level. We need to save our skills! Givez uz offmapz, RBz, everything!
