So, what are these new units like, exactly? The chat section in the client has it that the 2 inch mortar is very short ranged but is highly accurate and has a high rate of fire, but I'm rather in the dark on the 6 pdr and the Vickers team...

Now, I imagine the 6 pdr is inferior to the 57 mm, possibly rather like a Pak without the cloak... I also would assume that the Vickers team is superior in terms of its machine gun to MG Commandos, given that the former are more expensive and that I'm pretty sure the latter have a .30 cal machine gun, whereas the Vickers team will obviously have... what else... a Vickers...

Of course, the first paragraph is unconfirmed infomation I got from other EiR players, while the latter is pure speculation on my part... So I ask, what's actually going on with these new units?

MG Team: Vickers mg, Lower suppression but with suppressive fire ability, will be able to camouflage in cover (not in yet).
Mortar Team: Very short range, incredibly fast rate of fire, deals double suppression but half damage.
6 pounder: Same as ATG but camouflages in cover. (= Ambush)

Also the commando mg team does not have a .30, they have a vickers, can use smoke and come with gliders.

Interesting... So why are they more expensive than the commando MG then?

Fear the sub-machine mortar! Cheesy

Niiiiice... Grin

Wow... Sounds interesting... I'm liking what I hear so far... So does this mean that an ambushing 6 pdr won't automatically fire at infantry unless said infantry reveal the gun (this is what the Pak does under cloak, but the 57 will always auto-target infantry)?

Because of the ambush Tongue.

And yes, ambush means the ability to hold fire is there as well and should work just like it does for the PAK.

@ Captain Trek, We'll probably add a Hold Fire command to the 57mm ATG in the future. It's has been discussed.

this is sooooooooo not right!
british were already quite normal, with all their emplacements and uber tommy blobs. NOW THEY GOT MGs MORTARS AND MOBILE ATs TOO.
this makes commando mortar and piat and mg useless.
i really dont understand: you got commando heavy weps but youre givin the normal lads all their cloac abilities?
id say leth the 6 pdr be an allied AT without AP rounds and less powerfull, new mortar is ok i guess but no cloak, same with new vickers NO CLOAK and sapper amush is quite lame too.]
better give the commando heavy weps sniper cloak: they shoot a PIAT, and cloak again(while walking)
mortar shoots and cloaks again.  i dont see the point of commandos without this.

Ah... PIAT ambush is a vCoH ability though...

As to the new support weapons rendering commando support weapons useless, that's not entirely true... The 2 inch mortar behaves very differently from other mortars, having a much shorter range the other Allied mortars and doing less damage, but firing much faster and doing much more supression... It's kind of like a sub-machine mortar... It can do things the commando mortar cannot do and vice versa... So I think the two will probably be able to coexist...

As to the Vickers MMG though, it is pretty similar to the commando one... Apparently it does less suppression than the Commando version but has ambush and a supressive fire mode (like on BARs) to make up for it... It's also more expensive than the commando MG (suggesting that it is superior to the latter, whereas the 2 inch mortar is cheaper than the commando mortar, suggesting inferiority), which does indeed hang a rather large question mark over the existance of the commando MG in this case...

On the other hand though, Commandos also got Typhoons (bombing run?), off-map artillery and off-map decoy artillery in this Revision, so it's no all doom and gloom for the no. 1s... All the Royal Scots and Canadian Arty got by comparison were the rejected emplacements... For some reason now only Royal Engineers can use mortar pits and 17 pounders while only Royal Artillery can use 25 pounders...
